Is the Cambodian Border Open tomorrow?

Featured Replies

Open for visa runs? Just wondering if will be open starting July? I keep getting conflicting information

It has been open already. But from tomorrow on, you won't need a Thailand Pass to enter Thailand.

Which border crossing is open ? I'm wondering if Pong nam ron is up and running yet

It is also known as the Ban Laem crossing and  it is open.

A visa run company has been doing the runs 3 times a week from Bangkok to there for some time now.

For reference:-

As a foreigner to enter Cambodia, officially you must show documentary evidence of being fully vaccinated (minimum of 2 jabs) and have a valid passport (at least 6 months before expiry date) along with 1 recent passport photo for your visa on arrival ($30). E-visas can be organized a few days in advance ($36). I do not know what "visa run deals" might be available from "agents" using the Aranyaphratet - Poipet border crossing.

The border crossing between Chong Chom (Surin Province, Thailand) and O'Smach in Northern Cambodia is open.

Thanks for that Joe, I have been doing that run for a few years, before covid.,had a Cambers boys ph number there, he handled all for me but his phones dead now. Hope all's the same and not need to stay on the other side for a day or 3.

Planning on visiting friends in Battambang soon.

Which Border crossing is the best choice departing from Bangkok?

Ban Laem? Or Ban Pakkad?

I will be needing to acquire a reentry permit before crossing the Border. (Retirement Extension)

Any suggestions for Bus transportation from the Border to Battambang?

Thanks.

Ban Laem and Ban Pakard  are the same border crossing. Ban Pakard is the district where Ban Laem is located.

Not quite. Ban Laem and Ban Pakkard are both located in Pong Nam Ron district. They're two distinct border crossings not far apart (about 20km?).

The Thai immigration stamp reads "Pong Nam Ron Immigration" for both, but on the Cambodian side, Ban Laem faces Daun and Ban Pakkard faces Prum and they use different stamps with those names.

I'm thinking my best option is Bangkok - Chanthaburi, then mini-bus to either of the two Border crossings. (I'm not doing a Visa Run)

My main concern is the availability of a reentry permit.

Can you obtain reentry permits at either Ban Laem or Ban Pakkard   Border crossings?

Plan B would be to use the Khlong Yai / Cham Yeam (Koh Kong ) Border crossing.

Are reentry permits available at that crossing?

As far as I know re-entry permits are not available at any of those border crossings.

The Aranyaprathet/Poi Pet was the only crossing with a re-entry permit desk.

Probably best to get one at a immigration office to be sure you have one.l

Will be interesting if this topic stays for awhile and we get updates on how things are looking for border runs

There is an immigration office in the 'Town centre' of Klong Yai about 15-20klm from the boarder you can get a re-entry stamp there, but check and give them a call.  You can get transport there from the boarder or Trat bus station. I forgot to add they are only open ' Normal hours' not weekends.
