Popular Post webfact
by Natthaphon Sangpolsit BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand is expected to see over 7 million tourists visit the kingdom in the second half of this year, generating total revenue of around 1.27 trillion baht for the Thai economy. According to Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has reported a total of over 1,978,000 foreign visitors entering Thailand between January 1 to June 28, generating total revenue of around 114 billion baht. The majority of air travelers came from India, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States. Tourists arriving by land mostly came from Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and China. According to the ministry’s forecast, roughly 2.7 million tourists will visit Thailand between July and September, with another 4.5 million visiting between October and December. Total arrivals should number around 9.32 million, generating revenue of around 1.27 trillion baht. The government spokesperson added that the fourth phase of the We Travel Together campaign has received positive feedback from the public, with more registrations for the program preceding upcoming holidays this month. He also said businesses and hotels participating in the program have indicated their readiness to accommodate tourists. The government is urging operators to provide fair accommodations and services to help revitalize the tourism sector and the national economy. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-07-02 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post Laughing Gravy
These fortune tellers can be relied upon to come up with any numbers they pull out of a hat. Consistently incorrect with their forecasts I always wonder why the media do not challenge them on this every time they don't reach their target, which seems to be always. You can rely on this for one thing. Laughing medicine.

So, less than 2 million in the first SIX months and an expected 8 million in the last SIX months. What gets me is that TAT is a government agency established in 2001. You would think that after 20 years they would have some idea. Popular Post LivingNThailand
9.3 million tourists or 9.3 million ARRIVALS. I know a family of 6 that are RETURNING this month. Are they counted as tourists? I think so. When my family leaves and comes back in December will we be counted as tourists? I think so. 25 minutes ago, dallen52 said: What gets me is that TAT is a government agency established in 2001. You would think that after 20 years they would have some idea. internationalism
" total of over 1,978,000 foreign visitors entering Thailand between January 1 to June 28, generating total revenue of around 114 billion baht. That would mean that those tourists would spend 3x more than previously. Would they stay 3x longer? I don't think so. It's constant 10-20 days holidays. I would think hotel prices will rise some 10-20% at the very end of year, at high season. But they are not rising now yet, until end of rainy season. That's when domestic tourism kicks in on a larger scale. Edited July 4, 2022 by internationalism

KhunLA
Past 2 yrs, they've missed the mark of every 'millions will be arriving' news blips. This one fits right in with their overly optimistic projections. Don't think anyone believes it, or the people they're trying to convince to visit, and to 'join the party'. Normal folks are dealing with worldwide price gouging, and the HiSo, know there are better option than Thailand to visit. Especially if been there, done that already, why would they return.

With the ThaiPass registration lifted from 1st July, the remaining 6 months should probably exceed 1 million each month. The 9.32 million for whole of this year does seem plausible. Still a far cry from 39.92 million pre-pandemic though.
Heng
Just in the last couple of days after reopening, I finally filled a vacant (2 years vacant) building that was just sitting there. Another 6 months and it'll be time to get rid of those covid rent discounts. Party time. ????

The only confusion I have ever seen is when people mistake Airports Authority of Thailand figures as being purely international tourist arrivals, which is obviously not the case.
