Beautiful teacher: Rules need to change to allow Thai stunners in uniform to be allowed to compete in beauty pageants

A beautiful Thai teacher in Chumphon, southern Thailand, has decided to pull out of the Miss Universe Thailand pageant 2022 after an old education department rule was uncovered.

 

Khru Jupjaeng - real name Kanokwan Chusuk, aged 25 - managed to get in the last 30 round from an original quota of 200 contestants.

Then she found out about the rule introduced in 1961 that states that female teachers in Thailand can't take part in beauty pageants. 

 

They could even be sacked if they do. 

 

This caused much debate and laughs about fuddy-duddy Thailand in official beauty circles and among the public.

On Wednesday Sanook reporters went to the Wat Hat Phankrai school in Muang district where Jupjaeng is a math teacher. 

 

Her director Jaran Petchdee said he had never seen the rule and neither had people at the education department.

He supported his teacher in her aspirations and felt that it was ridiculous that in this day and age people should be barred from taking part in beauty pageants from any walk of life.

 

The contests often show that women can be excellent role models and offer their opinions about social issues. That fits in well with teachers, he said.

He said what happened was up to the bigwigs at the ministry, however.

 

Jupjaeng said that she applied to the contest herself and never thought she would be selected for the final rounds. 

 

But she had been contacted by someone who told her about the old rule and after consultation with a respected elder she had decided to take the decision herself to pull out.

 

She said that it was a pity and she hopes to apply again if and when the rules are changed.

In UK, and other countries now, we would not be allowed to use the word 'stunner' as it can be deemed sexist. We can hardly use the word 'girl' or 'woman' !

As I said in my post, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", I don't see it, or rather she is not what I would look for or even vote for in a competition.

Oh I forgot my Beer Goggles at home, better get them and look again.  Holy cow after putting on the BG she is the raving beauty you see at 2am when leaving the bar, and upon waking up you realize what you did and  you gnaw of your arm rather then wake her before you leave....
