INN reported on a family tragedy in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, southern Thailand, when a Norwegian man and his Thai wife took the family out on a sightseeing trip in the Ao Thong Yang area.

Sichon police and rescue services found their car had rolled 20 meters down a ravine after coming off the road.

Locals helped get the six occupants of the car to hospital.

Severly injured was the Norwegian driver named as Yorn (name transliterated from Thai and possibly incoprrect), his wife Suwannadee, two girls called Natalie and Inthira, a grandfather called Prasan and a grandmother called Lamai.

Lamai Singthong later died from her injuries.

The family were out on a trip to the scenic area visiting the home province of the Thai wife.

The reason for the accident is under investigation.

Why would the family go cheap and have the foreign guy be the driver?

Even my Thai family rent a mini van with a driver, as it is a lot more fun

for the family to enjoy the outing.  RIP  and I hope the driver survives.

Very sad to hear, in my area the roads around the hills are very narrow and many cars and trucks go over when trying to pass. Maybe if we knew the whole story we could have better comments.

Doubtful.
