Heavy rains drown Hanoi streets, block traffic

Rainfall of over 200 mm belted down in several places in Hanoi since midnight Thursday, inundating streets and paralyzing traffic.

 

A tropical depression that used to be Storm Mulan in fact brought heavy rain to the capital since morning, and it got heavier as the day went on.

 

Then, between midnight and 6 a.m. Friday, Hoang Mai District recorded 340 mm of rain, Nam Tu Liem recorded 190 mm, Bac Tu Liem recorded 250 mm, Cau Giay and Thanh Xuan recorded 230 mm, and Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh recorded 170 mm.
