Daily News Thai Caption: Judicial killing ends rampage

An investigation is underway after a man who reported having an argument with his wife and feeling safer at a Nakhon Pathom police station was shot dead, reported Daily News.

He'd grabbed an officer's gun while he was changing in the car park, started firing indiscriminately and fellow officers pumped him full of bullets in a judicial shooting.

He had eight bullet wounds.

Deputy chief at the Nakhonchaisri station in Nakhon Pathom, central Thailand, Lt-Col Nawin Songlaor initially reported the shooting of a man in blue tracksuit bottoms and red top in the parking lot yesterday evening.

A Sig Sauer P365 handgun was recovered from under a white pick-up. Eight shell casings were recovered and taken into evidence.

The deceased was later named as Khempetch Khamla, 38, who had eight wounds.

Pol Maj-Gen Chomchawin Purathananon, provincial police chief, said that officers at the station first saw the man in the middle of the day.

He said that he had been arguing with his wife who had chased him out of their home so he went to the police station where he would feel safer.

In the evening he still hadn't gone home and the police took pity on him and gave him 100 baht so he could get himself something to eat.

He came back thereafter and asked if he could take a shower and sleep there the night. They allowed him to do that.

However, while an officer was changing his clothes behind his private pick-up in the parking lot the man grabbed the officer's gun from his waist and made as if to shoot at him.

Hearing the commotion other officers responded and ran out to get the man to put down the weapon.

He failed to comply and started shooting indiscriminately putting holes in three police vehicles' bodywork and bursting a tire.

Unable to calm the situation down and fearing injury or worse the officers shot him dead.

Chomchawin said that during the day officers had found out the man's name and done a background check to make sure he was not a threat.

He had no previous for drugs or crime and officers just assumed he was a stressed out guy who had been involved in a domestic dispute.

The four guns used in the killing by police were taken into evidence as an investigation began.

This will include investigating whether the officer who had his gun taken was negligent.

The deceased was taken away for an autopsy to check especially for the presence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Where are the 4 used shell cases he apparently fired there should be 12 all told if officers fired 8 into his body seems to me to be a bit overboard pumping the guy full of bullets  RIP   :  (

Those are rookie numbers.! Get some American police over there to teach them how to neutralise a threat.

Maybe the officer felt they/their (whatever) gender changing, so they/their (whatever) had to change clothes to match. ????????????????

Oh, this is not the West we're talking about.  ????

Twenty eight bullets would possibly do the trick at that rate,

Let's assume 3x holes in body work and 1x tire makes 4 spent cases shot by the perpetrator.

Another 4 spent cases supposedly shot from police. 8 holes in the perpetrators body could be realistic if media counted entry & exit wound separately.

He committed what is called a "suicide by cop".

The report reads more like a wild west shoot out.

Clearly no basic training in the two shot rule - one to wound and neutralise the threat - two to ensure instant fatality if necessary.

Cheaper than paying for a locker! ????

Can't see how the police officer was negligent if the guy grabbed his weapon from his waist while he was changing.

Seriously! If you threaten American police with a gun, you will be pumped with so much lead, you will look like swiss cheese after.

They did. Four cops x 2 = 8 bullet wounds.

The name Somchai Kent should give a clue........

I’ve often thought suicide by cop might not be a bad way to go.

Trigger happy cops in America would've probably just shot him just for being there!

Sad to see the Yanks on a shooting topic almost salivating at the thought of emptying a magazine into someone.
