Whitehouse trolling some of the Hypocrites..............

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.

Greene: "For our government just to say ok your debt is completely forgiven.. it’s completely unfair"

Congressman Vern Buchanan had over $2.3 million in PPP loans forgiven.

Buchanan "Biden’s reckless, unilateral student loan giveaway is unfair to the 87 percent of Americans without student loan debt and those who played by the rules."

Congressman Markwayne Mullin had over $1.4 million in PPP loans forgiven.

Mullin "We do not need farmers and ranchers, small business owners, and teachers in Oklahoma paying the debts of Ivy League lawyers and doctors across the U.S."

Congressman Kevin Hern had over $1 million in PPP loans forgiven.

Hern "To recap, in the last two weeks, the "Party of the People" has supercharged the IRS to go after working-class Americans, raised their taxes, and forced them to pay for other people's college degrees."

Congressman Mike Kelly had $987,237 in PPP loans forgiven.

Kelly "Asking plumbers and carpenters to pay off the loans of Wall Street advisors and lawyers isn’t just unfair. It’s also bad policy."

Congressman Matt Gaetz had $482,321 in PPP loans forgiven.

Gaetz "Everyone knows that in a $60 Billion+ European land war, it's always the last $3 Billion that kicks in the door"

Yeah I'm sure those waitresses and cleaners earning minimum wage are thrilled that their tax dollars are paying off the debt of graduate couples earning 240,000 USD  a year.

But then, who is more likely to vote Democrat? I'd suggest the graduates that have been through the left leaning University system. Yes' let's give money to wealthy, young Democrat voters at the expense of the struggling working class.

This is an ill thought out bribe for votes in November, and it's not even very subtle.

Even a lot of Dems are disagreeing with it.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/embattled-us-democrats-riled-over-bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-2022-08-25/

The Dems are going full on banana republic. First raiding the homes of political rivals, now bribing voters. How terribly 'progressive'.

I think they’re more concerned with the $millions off loan forgiveness handed out to the people in the GOP making the most noise about all this.

Sean Hannity appears to be attacking the President's Student Loan Relief program....I think.

[“The people that likely will benefit the most are middle class. You know, think about it. You get out of college, you’re not making a lot of money,” Hannity said on his radio show Wednesday. “We have a lot of young people that work on my TV show, they’re not making a $125,000. They’re now eligible to get in some cases up to $20,000 and in other cases $10,000. This is New Green Deal radical socialism.”]

[Hannity, who’s reportedly paid upwards of $30 million a year, noted that there were Fox News employees who could be eligible to have some of their debt canceled.]

Their should be a pre-requisite course in High School on how school loans work.

Pretty much a slap in the face to the millions who saved and sacrificed for their kid's education. Or those kids who didn't go because they couldn't afford it.

Both are right, I would be pretty <deleted> if i had saved lived careful and paid it off while others did no such thing and got it paid off. I get where he is coming from.

I get where your coming from too, personally i dont like these things as they are unfair to those wo do save.

Though of course for exceptions that did save and still had problems would be acceptable. Too bad those things are hard to do. (to check such things)

The assumption is, those who have had $10,000 of their student debt relieved were not working hard to pay it down.

That’s very obviously a broad and unfounded generalization.

But yes you are correct, there are two points of view  two sides to the coin.

So Biden has responded to Republicans critical of his student loan forgiveness policy.

Biden’s response is getting a lot of media coverage, do you have anything to add.

Or do you believe Biden’s response to Republican criticism of his student loan forgiveness policy to be off topic?

Whataboutery at it's finest. I'd have thought Biden would have matured by the age of 97, but it would appear not.

I just feel sorry for the poor, working class in the US, seeing their taxes used by the Dems to buy votes from wealthy graduates on 6 figure salaries. I guess your socialist principles are "flexible" when it comes to buying votes to keep the lefties in power. Take from the poor and give to the rich. How kind. How socialist. Way to go - addressing inequality, "Progressive" style.

How is the President Responding whataboutary, he’s pointed out the hypocrisy of his Republican critics (all part of the political discourse).

He’s also not 97, but you couldn’t keep your ageist (neutrality) under cover.

I’m not sure what all that nonsense about socialism was about, is it part of the topic?

This is not unique to the USA but to the Netherlands too you got people who dont save and then get bailed out and you got people who do save and sacrifice and get shafted. (I have had that in the past).

But yes not everyone who cant pay did not put in enough effort. I did put in my reply that this does not apply to everyone but there are always people who do. I pay off all my debts but see plenty of people here saying going bankrupt is better. I just don't like that mentality.

But yes its broad generalization and it certainly does not apply to everyone but it does happen. That is something you cant deny. Neither can i deny that there are people who really need this support.

I think you get my point.

Oh my mistake, I got the 7 and the 9 the wrong way around. So sorry ????

Yes, Biden taking taxes from poor working class people to re-distribute to wealthy, Democrat voting graduates is part of the topic. Leftists making the poor poorer and the rich richer and buying votes in the process. Care to justify it?

Are you aware that students who were eligible for Pell grants are entitled to another $10,000 in loan forgiveness?

Would you care to explain how  Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven, Vern Buchanan had over $2.3 million in PPP loans forgiven,

Markwayne Mullin had over $1.4 million in PPP loans forgiven, Kevin Hern had over $1 million in PPP loans forgiven, Mike Kelly had $987,237 in PPP loans forgiven and Matt Gaetz had $482,321 in PPP loans forgiven.

Yet they hypocritically are some of the biggest and outspoken critics of this proposal by Biden?

In the face of fabricated and hypocritical outrage from the Republicans, the White House has responded:

To the frothing or the mouth outrage of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a reminder that she had

$183,504 PPP Loans forgiven.

To the screaming outrage coming out of Rep. Mike Kelly, a reminder he had $987, 237 of PPP loans forgiven.

And to the making far to much outraged noise for his own good Rep. Matt Gaetz, a reminder he had $482,321 of PPP loans forgiven (but no word on forgiveness for those other matters.

Congressman Vern Buchanan, trying to act a bit less rabid than his comrades in receipt of forgiveness, but still ranting, he gets a reminder he had $2.3 million in PPP loans forgiven.

So come on, let’s hear it for the ‘slap in the face’, ‘the seeds of destruction for the American economy’, ‘the Democrats are addicted to handouts’, ‘Debts not paid cause harm’.

Utter two faced hypocrisy.

And all because Biden gives some help to the lower 95% rather than handing cash (as is usual for the GOP) to the top 1%.

Come on, let’s hear your outrage.

Quite a different program and broadly popular. The Democrats even pushed to simplify access to it.

Lots of Graduates vote Republican.

This program is aimed at all individuals holding Federal student who have incomes below $125,000 per annum.

$125,000 per year, or $250,000 per household per year is far from ’rich’.

So what is your point?

That's simply even more debt to be paid off by ordinary, working class tax payers. These students already received the Pell grant and will most likely to go on to very well paid jobs. Much of the debt they agreed to pay back themselves will now be paid off by people on minimum wage jobs who never signed up to any debt and got no benefit from the loans. Is that supposed to make this ridiculous scheme OK? An absurd argument.

Biden buying votes with other people's money. Wealth transfer from the working classes to the middle classes. But you pretend to think it's OK because you know it will help keep your boy in the white house (or more accurately, stop the Republicans winning back control of the US house of representatives in November). Hypocrisy in the extreme. All the left wing "Progressives/Socialists" supporting this wealth transfer from working to middle class remind me of that Groucho Marx quote "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them, well I have others". ????

400 Billion. Wow.

Why does that matter?

People who had hundreds of thousands of dollars, some millions of dollars of PPP loans forgiven are ranting against help being given to ordinary Americans who hold Federal student debts.

It’s the two faced hypocrisy of it all.

Hold to be at fault the institutions ultimately responsible for generating the debt, the universities. Student loans go to places like the University of Phoenix, with a graduation rate of less than 30 percent. Some state institutions not much better. Essentially, they've become adult day care centers, with massive waste in facilities, administrators, and personnel. Any loan forgiveness should have been accompanied by a cap on tuition at universities receiving federal funds or loans.

Give him a minute, he’s googling ‘Pell Grant’.

Amusing ????. I hate to disappoint you but I am well aware of what a Pell grant is. I received a similar grant myself when I attended Uni in London in the 90's. However, unlike these students I paid back my own student debt when I went on to a career earning very good money, and I was happy to do so since I had agreed in good faith to pay off the loan and the degree had served me extremely well in terms of present/future earnings.

I certainly wouldn't have supported the minimum wage waiter who was serving me my steak at the restaurant paying off my debt as I lorded it up on a Friday evening with workmates, simply because the left wing government was trying to buy my vote. But then, I have actual principles, unlike the virtue signallers who drop them as soon as it becomes expedient for them to do so ????.

Right Wing hypocrisy exposed....again.  And a new stinging two-word rebuttal....

[Now Biden’s debt cancellation has given the phrase new life: “This you?” is rolling through Twitter like a bowling ball, toppling critic after critic as it nullifies their claims. The source of many of the “receipts”, in this case, is the public record of those who had their Payment Protection Plan (PPP) loans – the federal funds intended to keep businesses afloat early in the pandemic – forgiven.]

$10,000 seems like peanuts compared to what these right wing "public servants" received in loan forgiveness.

No, the assumption is that those who didn't pay out their student loans were too lazy and had a crystal ball. Not that opportunities are unequal or that black women (the laziest, apparently)  carry the greatest proportion of the debt. Or that millions are really poor and can't afford to pay that debt out because their social work degrees didn't get them stock options when they got a job for a fortune 500.

Well the all volunteer U.S. military receives $91 billion in pensions and health benefits every year now. 50% or more are Republican, so "buying" votes and paid by the poor working class taxpayers as well

90% who served in the military never carried a gun or went into a battle zone.  A few from Vietnam conflict were drafted of course, but other than that - all volunteered, got free GI Bill after 4 years and lifetime of health care...all paid by taxpayers.  Only country in the world who has taxpayers pay salary while serving and then paying again for their benefits and pension after leaving the "service"

Bottom line, this student loan "cancellation" is a drop in the bucket for U.S. taxpayers

Well he promised to do something about this issue and now he has.

Many Americans are suffering under this debt and a large percentage of people never got the hoped for payoff from the schooling. You can't bankruptcy out of student debt.

The policy itself is helping some people that really need it, not helping many people enough to really address their debt, and just giving free money to many that really don't need the help.

But overall I think it's a political win for Biden and the democrats and it will at least do some good.

If it was more restrictive towards only low income people then Republicans would attack that too as communist.

Can't convert right wingers but you can build strength among moderates.

Yeah, I heard this same thing being said about Trump: "He promised to do such and such, and he is keeping his promise!"

Trump, now Biden.

But what if what he's promised is something stupid? What then?

Which way are we supposed to take that?...........

*  Criticize him for doing something stupid...........

or............

* Congratuate him for "keeping his promise?"

To me, there's really only one right answer to that question, regardless of whether it's Biden, or Trump, or any other President we're talking about!

--------------

Is keeping promises important? Absolutely!

Is keeping stupid promises important? Not in the least!

--------------

--------------

And lastly, I wonder......... with a gleam in my eye........ lol ..........why people seem pleased that Biden is "keeping his promise".......... when the promise he is keeping.......... results in allowing literally millions of student debt holders to not have to keep theirs!

Pretty funny, that!

Of course in your view those that volunteered and went to places like Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan as well as many of the other small locales like in Beirut, Lebanon where many also gave their lives while doing the work they were sent to do, did not earn a chance at going to college and the GI bill is just a freebie.  How about those?  You serve the country and do not deserve any medical assistance lifetime health care, or help in trying to obtain a job outside of the one you were trained for....hmmm I think your a little lost when you say they did not earn a pension or the other benefits they obtained....
