Raft village to be removed for major Mekong Delta bridge construction

Around 130 fish farming rafts on the Tien River, a Mekong tributary, will be removed to build Rach Mieu 2 Bridge.

Pham Van Sang, chairman of Chau Thanh District in Tien Giang Province, which is home to those floating rafts, said Tuesday all fish farmers have agreed with the plan.

Each farmer will be compensated with VND8-13 million ($340-550) depending on the scale of their rafts, he said.
