Republican governors are in a cynical competition to outdo each other and send migrants from the US border by bus to New York, Washington, DC, Chicago and, now, by plane to Martha’s Vineyard.

Two unannounced planes carrying an estimated 50 migrants landed in the wealthy seaside enclave of Massachusetts on Wednesday night, surprising locals.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed credit for the stunt, which took the migrants from Texas, not Florida, and left them without planning on the street.

News was reported by De Santis office last year. Not verified by any agencies. You may be a victim of a hoax political stunt.

No hoax. The flights are a reality and have happened in many communities throughout the country.

 

"Up and down the coast" is a very vague term. Could mean the coast of Florida. Perhaps a bit of Georgia, certainly not farther than that. Otherwise, other airports would be closer. The fact is that the flights were so secretive, arrived under cover of darkness. If only the federal government would be honest and truthful about them, we wouldn't have to speculate so much.  Yet requests for information are ignored...

It may be a hoaz or it may not be. But the fact is that Florida wasn't the final destination booked for these asylum seekers. Unlike those from Texas.

It would also be interesting to determine where the funding for this stunt is coming from. The migrants sent to Martha's Vineyard were from Texas. Yet Desantis is responsible for sending them. Did he use Florida govt funds to pay for this? If so, is this a legitimate use of taxpayer's money?

Your source said they were taken up and down the coast. Perhaps you aren't too familiar with American geography, but "down the coast" from Jacksonville is 100% state of Florida. Up the coast is still Florida, but borders with Georgia as well. At least one of them stayed in Florida though- the one who murdered a shop owner in Jacksonville.

What I meant by hoax was that De Santis was disingenuous about the fact and engaged in hookwinking the public. Firstly, the flights were routine and for underage immigrants detained at the border and transporting them to special children's shelters or to meet sponsors around the country.  Biden administration brief the Florida governor's office about the flights and his press secretary Christine Pushaw confirmed knowledge of the flights. 

 

De Santis claimed flights came in the night but didn't explained that late-night arrivals were due to travel logistics, including the length of the flights from Texas and other stops they had to make on the way. Most flights came in the day.

 

I still think that you are a victim of De Santis's political hoax.

Travel logistics?  Please. Dallas to Jacksonville is 2 hours 20 minutes.  Plus one of the "children" was actually a 24 year old who is now accused of murder.

 

As for "being informed", your article quotes Pushaw as stating;

 

“We were not apprised of the plans for vetting and transporting migrants after July. We requested transparency moving forward and were told flight information would be shared, but additional information was never provided,”

 

CNN has been carrying water for Biden since before the election. Not exactly an unbiased source of information.

DeSantis is fond of staging political stunts that will improve his chances in 2014, always at the expense of Florida's taxpayers.

 

If DeSantis were genuinely concerned about illlegal immigrants entering Florida, he would actually enforce laws making it a crime to hire them:

It's a vacation destination that greatly slows down after Labor Day and pretty much closes down for the winter. You don't know that? Actually, the locals were very welcoming to the migrants. You think the migrants want to stay long term on a small island with very limited resources?

It is, which means there are myriad housing possibilities for the migrants.  15,000 year round residents which of course swells in the summer.  The locals were very welcoming indeed, agreeing to help the Venezualans OUT....of their town.  Fifty visitors should be a snap.  Small towns in Texas and Arizona get hundreds every day.

Please share with us the evidence that it was the people on the island who wanted the migrants off and not the federal government. I'm sure you wouldn't make such a claim without evidence to back it up. I look forward to your presentation eagerly.

They really don't like having a tiny part of the uninvited immigrants that cross the border being in THEIR areas.

I especially enjoyed the spectacle of them being dropped outside Kamala Harris's residence.
