Closest land border from Phuket?

Debating doing a border hop though a land border to activate a new 30 day stay. Im in phuket. 

 

What is the nearest land border to Phuket for a border run to activate a new 30 day stay? Im an american citizen. 

 

I keep going back and forth wether I should just fly out and fly back in again or a land border run.

Very easy as a one day trip on the weekend (Saturday). AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur.

 

Land border? Is there anything closer than Sadao (Songkhla province) to Malaysia?

But that's for the locals.

The closest used to be the Ranong to Burma. It is by boat and I'm not sure if it ha opened again yet. Used to be organised tours with a van.

I used to go to Penang and apply for another 60 day visa. Needs 2 days. I enjoy it there, nice hotel and great food. Lovely people. Otherwise it’s in and out to anywhere you can get the cheapest flight. I wouldn’t do a land border .

A map isn’t going to help him locate an ‘immigration boarder’. 

Neither will a map tell him if an immigration border is open if he could find one.

Are you sure they will give you another 30 days? I am reading only 15 days at a land border crossing. It's all very confusing.

Once upon a time I took a bus from Phuket Town to Ranong, it was 8 excruciating hours with my knees in my mouth and thankfully I still had a bladder of steel at the time. Perhaps connections have improved by now, but I would much rather fly to Penang or KL than repeat that ordeal.

Satun ( Wang Prachan.. apx Drive 6-7 hours, nice market on weekends) no bus to border) is a nicer drive down than Sado via Hat yai
IF, but Its NOT OPEN,  Burma, Ranong/Kwathong.
Bus Phuket- Ranong 6 hours, drive it in 4

rent a car <5 hrs, straight thru

or pop into Khao Lak or Khao Sok NP/Lake

make an adventure out of it

Nothing on that site states the crossing are open to foreigners.

It has been confirmed that other crossing Myanmar are also closed for those that are not from Myanmar or Thailand.

If you check the Myanmar evisa website - https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/ it mentions that due to Covid restrictions, foreigners (other than Thai or Myanmar) can only enter the country by air to Yangon or Mandalay.  It's a temporary restriction, so hopefully you can use Ranong in the future.

Just out of date info written before covid 19 and the coup in Myanmar.

They are closed to foreigners due to the coup government does not want them to enter.
