Police helped a 10-year-old Chinese-American girl found walking alone on a roadside in Chonburi province on Wednesday night on her way to Bangkok reunite with her father.

The girl said she was heading for Suvarnabhumi airport to try to catch a flight to see her mother in China, according to police.

They said the girl was found by a good Samaritan,  later identified as Poommiphat Chaichana who was driving on a dimly-lit road in Chonburi when she spotted her trudging alone with a knapsack on her back.

Poommiphat  later told reporters that he stopped the girl and tried unsuccessfully to communicate with her since she didn’t speak Thai.  He later had his employer on his phone to talk to the girl who said she intended to walk all the way to Suvarnabhumi airport, which is about 70 kilometres away, hoping to catch a flight to China.

Chinese - American girl, living in Thailand, with her mother living in China.

Must be more to this story.  Perhaps the grandmother is living in China, whom may have been her primary carer in the past.

Possibly left unsupervised, and ran away.

The the innocent girl, maybe with some kind of family problem,  was lucky not to be seen by some driver with other intentions, I don't think that at that time it is safe to walk alone on those roads.

hmmm .....  that's long walk .....  and did she have money to buy the ticket to China?  passport? vaccine papers?

lucky someone stopped to investigate ....  otherwise where would she sleep ??

The real question is who was taking care of her in Thailand, and that she felt she had to escape?

A lot more Chinese American in Thailand,  can't speak Thai!

If she is where is the Father or Guardian who should be American since the mother is in China. So much missing like always.

Thanks to the good Thai Samaritian!

This story is so messed up.. is she going to see her father or her mother.  and what the heck is she doing out there all by herself.  Too many un-answered questions.
