100 isnt that many. Only 2 a week for a year.

I know. You've had 500. Though the way you procrastinate it's a bit hard to believe. But why would you make it up. Ozimoron had 5000 he said. King of the mongers. Where is Ozimoron? He's been gone for a while.  Better we care about now and keep an open heart rather than counting sheep or counting prostitutes.

Nothing really worth boasting about though as its easier to get a prostitute and have sex than it is to get a beer in Thailand .

As long as you have 500 Baht in your pocket you can buy sex of some sort any ti9me you like  , that's not the case when wanting a beer , you can walk around all night with 500 Baht in your pocket and not being able to buy a beer .

Sex is easier to obtain than beer is

Like what

Trek to south pole?

Serial killer?

Fast for 55 days?

Travelling world and Jumping off cliffs and man made objects and repeat them successfully about 500 times, also did regular skydiving about 3000 jumps, climbing, kayaking, and most ski disciplines on pist and offpist as well competition skijumping for 15 years. The last is maybe not so special, but base jumping was not an accepted or something almost nobody did when I first started out. Very little information at all, and nobody around to ask, so it was more or less me and myself to find out how to make good decisions and try to survive.

Many of those I met on my journey is not among us anymore.

having spent almost 30 years treating many of the folks who haven't 'made a good fist of it' I can tell you all, most people have a definite lack of empathy, and capacity to stand outside their social brainwashing far enough to consider the depth of pain that they themselves face let alone another's plight in life.

No offence meant to posters or original our OP, but rather an honest therapeutic experiential considered opinion.

Especially when we can look outside and tell ourselves; 'Oh look there, there's someone who's less than me.' Judging by the lack of money, possessions, the car they drive or don't drive, their habitual lack or mature self-control e.g. instant gratification, appearances, speech patterns, colour of skin, and then say 'loser / less than' in our heads.

It is very easy and convenient to judge how others live or have lived. It is especially inappropriate, nay callous to do so if I have little to no idea or insight into what their life has been like. Then I reflexively say to myself; Whats wrong with them and why don't they handle life?

I have indeed suffered as a human being in life but my pain is my subjective experience it is not the same as another's pain. Pain yes but experienced through my lens not another's.

Quick and convenient for me to judge and categorise yes, but still inappropriate and judgemental.

For many, not some, but many (take a look at the stats for all manner of mental illness, mature male suicide, DV, murder, socialised violence) life is a struggle not a joy, dangerous and dark, with no safe-place that restores and nurtures. Their shame and next-to nonexistent self-worth leads them 'as a dog to its own vomit' as Nietzsche said.

I will offer one word that lives at the cellular level and to such a degree for some that existence is so intolerable ... that word is shame. Shame at toxic levels.

Yes A.N. fellows life is for some a struggle which they never seem to find functional ways to coping with.

This is especially the case when one is poorly equipped from birth (despite what family appearances may seem to show), emotionally retarded, and cognitively immature.

A wise man once said; To grow up later in life rather than through the healthy normative timeline process is perhaps the single hardest thing a human being can do.

The use of chemicals, sex, violence, and likewise chronic inability to form healthy relationships with themselves - (shame), and with others sees a form of crowed isolation which is like the relative in the prison, a prison within the self.

To find and medicate their life experience with drugs or something that produces an endocrine system outpouring is always about amending pain not self indulgence, although it is easy to imagine such medicating the self as selfish seeing as substance abusers do seem to use with relished abandon.

The narrative that laziness is a primer of such 'failing' in life likewise is a far more complex issue that that. I ask you to trust me on this.

Most habituated criminals have substance abuse problems, and exhibit as the poster described a teenage or infantile way of behaving and seeing the world i.e. fantasy as oppose to mature calculated, subjective, experience.

3k is 100 pa for 30 years. More than that i just cant see it.

Wasn't he about 70 years old ?

Sex twice a  week is 100 per year , 1000  per ten years .

5000 sex in 50 years .

Sex twice a week isn't out of the ordinary for married couples *

So 5000 sexes is about normal

(*BM2 really doesnt need to tell everyone that his UK Wife wouldn't have sex with him and that she cheated blah blah blah again )

"They must of wasted their life ."

The error in judgement you are making is that you assume because they are in their 60s living in government housing, you somehow can divine all of their lives and sum it up as having been wasted. There are many, many people who never make it to their golden age and spent most of their life busting their tails to pay for mortgages, cars, fancy things, etc., only to die before being able to enjoy the time they sacrificed.  Some of the people you saw living simpler lives on the surface observation might have some pretty amazing adventures they have been on. You would never know because you are assuming way too much based on your pre-conceived notions about people who are now living quite basic in their golden years.

Some people use time while they can, and while they are healthy. Some people save it til they end...not knowing exactly when "the end" is.

Did you or are you wasting your life ?

I don't think I wasted my life because I always knew home base had to be safe by the time I was 60

Also I always knew I should work to live & not live to work. As a  contractor I had plenty of time off between jobs...

I retired at 55 moved to Thailand & liked it a lot but left after 6 years

Now we are still happy & live a nice life but at times feel I am wanting more & miss some things from Thailand too,

Covid made it hard because it seemed we were all wasting time for 3 years with no trips to Thailand or anywhere for that matter

Now we will return to Thailand in a few weeks for our usual 3 month a year stay & we will have an extra hard look

at where we want to spend the majority of our "remaining" time

How do you measure waste?

Depends what you want to do.

80% of the world have little funds.

It's waste if one looks back and regrets things done or not done.

Did I waste 26 years of my life nursing for a pittance when I could have spent those years working in the Australian mines and retired to Thailand as soon as I was old enough for a retirement extension?

While I like to think my patients would not think my time was wasted, I have a sneaking suspicion I'd rather have taken the money.

Whats bad about Thailand?

Nothing at all, but some wouldn't know a good thing if it slapped them in the face.

Some stay in one place they don't like and then complain that "all" Thailand is not good enough for them.

There's more variety of places to live in LOS for a retired guy, than anywhere else I've ever lived.

Given the thread is about wasted time, almost every minute I spent out of Thailand was wasted, and not a second was wasted from the time wheels down on Thai soil till wheels up.

He is saying 5000 partners though not times. If you take out at least the first few years of a marriage where one might hope dalliances are at a minimum, married more than once, illness, periods of normal work where you are not in such an environment, start at 18 years old, 5000 is a big call.

He doesn't seem prone to embellishment or to magnify or inflate himself so maybe he is in fact king of the monger people.

I'm wasting my life reading these comments!!!!!

and posting!!!  How can I get these precious minutes back?????   OMG, another minute ticks

I'm not guaranteed tomorrow, but yesterday I did everything possible!!!   If I don't find a way for humans to live on Mars my life will be in vein.

I have 10 million Indians creating Pattaya in the Metaverse.....they will waste their life programming but it will be for a greater good!!!

OK, I admit, I did nothing but then saved a kitten from a truck as I was killed.

OK, I lied about that but helped 3 people cross the street once.

OK, maybe it was 2.

If you need someone else to give yourself meaning or purpose or an identity or approval....you are already lost and you have wasted it all!!!!

The person who paid to have sex with the most prostitutes isnt something that I would be proud of , its a cheaper hobby or lifestyle choice than raising a family .

Boasting about having sex with prostitutes is quite similar to boasting about masturbating  the most .

Sad life really , not to mention all the infections

Agree on the P4P thing, as I never needed to, though it was convenient, and a first & only for me, on my first real Thai 'diving/recon' holiday.  Kept her all week.

But the ST/LT, hour or overnight thing, I can't even see bothering with.  Just go to local meeting venue and pick a like minded person  up, or better, get picked up.  Of course if you're fat, ugly, an introvert, and have no social skills, then I guess it's a life saver.

I definitely get the monthly rent a GF vs wife, as probably same price as being married, and just as enjoyable, if not wanting, needing a relationship partner.  Certainly a lot safer financially if it all goes titts up.

Boasting about nightly, weekender, ST/LTs, is a bit silly, as simply paying for a service.  You haven't really done anything special.  Really no bragging rights there, no conquest, no I bedded 100s or 1000s of people, male or female, or both.   You paid for a service.

And yet ........ guys are boasting about their new car/boat/house/motorcycle/watch when they haven't really done anything special either!

And I've had a couple of friends that couldn't successfully hire a hooker in Thailand either (one from Oz, the other from the USA, both 50+yo normal looking virgins). Then another guy from NZ I was drinking with paid a girls barfine, chatted to her for 20 mins, then she handed him his barfine back and said she'd changed her mind.

And another couple of times, I was in a bar with pals, a girl would approach me, I'd say I wasn't interested but one of my pals was, and they turned around and just walked off. We were all equal age, equally unattractive. Sometimes life/women just gets weird!

Materialism never impressed me, especially if stating how much you paid or it's 'high value' for something.  Want to impress me, tell how much of a bargain you got, not how stupid you are ????
