Elon Musk on Monday sent a letter to Twitter proposing to follow through with his deal to buy the company at the originally agreed upon price of $54.20 per share, according to a securities filing on Tuesday.

In the letter, Musk said he would proceed with the acquisition on the original terms, pending receipt of the debt financing for the deal and provided that the Delaware Chancery Court stay the litigation proceedings over Musk’s initial attempt to pull out of the deal and adjourn the upcoming trial over the dispute.

A Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to CNN that the company received Musk’s letter and reiterated its previous statement that the “intention of the Company is to close the transaction at $54.20 per share.”

He is obviously pretty smart. But is he as smart as he thinks he is?

For most smart people, even the supersmart, running a company like Tesla would be a fulltime job.

But Musk runs also a rocket company and boring company and probably more.

And he seems to think in his spare time he can change and/or buy Twitter.

And yesterday he decided he should also stop the Ukraine war.

Maybe he should relax a little and concentrate on what he has and otherwise shut up - at least in public.

So what happened to all the bots he claimed to be on twitter, didn't he say that around 80/90% of his comments on twitter were from bots and this was the reason he withdrew his original offer?

Obviously some major financial decisions on his side have led to him returning to his original offer.

How ironic he's carrying out polls on his account when he also claims all those bots are the main engagement on his account.....lol

Something doesnt add up when it comes to Elon Musk.

He has made a car that's better than Detroit, Tokyo, Stuttgart. He has made an electric motor better than Siemens, AEG, General electric. A battery that's better than Panasonic, LG, Samsung. A rocket ship that's better than NASA.

One of these achievements, I would buy into. But all of them makes me think its more to do with marketing himself.

yes .... good observation and I agree with you entirely.  I wouldn't believe half of what his marketing spruces out.  It appears the number of disgruntled Tesla owners keeps growing ... it could come back to bite him by dropping sales.

Just to add, I watched him at his Space X facility and his interview on site with Jay Leno.  The guy is spending billions upon billions of dollars on his pipe dream to colonize Mars with millions of people from earth.

The guy has to be barking mad to waste all that money on something as stupid as that.  imo

more money than sense.

I wondered about that as well.  The whole bots saga was supposedly a deal-killer....until it wasn't.

Just wondering if Musk is trying to play the courts, which was supposed to see this case 17 Oct.  Musk apparently wants this case to go away.  Twitter may not go along.  We'll see how this thing plays out.

"Speculation" ????!   Let me guess, this "Speculation" has come from a communist/left leaning rag that cannot bear the thought that people will be able to air their (legally held) views and that those who take offence on behalf of others will not be able to censor them.    To repeat the oft used phrase that the left provide whenever a legally held (but offensive to some) view is censored or someone like Trump is removed from the platform - it's a private platform and they can do what they want and those who don't like it are perfectly entitled to create their own etc...

"Legally held views"?? There are no views you're not allowed to hold. It's expressing some of those views that might be illegal.

Do try to keep up....:coffee1:

For some reason you decided to miss the full sentence here.   Twitter currently censors and bans people for for airing (or expressing) their views that some may find offensive, even if the law allows them to say so.   Prominent doctors and scientists were being censored for questioning the accepted covid narrative and others have been banned for claiming that men cannot become women.  Musk has promised not to censor these views.  See the difference?

Do try to keep up.

I don't know what is a worse idea: Spending many billions on Twitter or on Mars.

Perhaps twitter being on the the large social network have the experience to know that context and intent is everything. Perhaps they know were legal posts made in such a way can then lead to hate speech so act on them when they ate flagged. it’s. Fine line but they seem to have been doing a good job so far. With for instance labeling government entities and such.

The court case was looming so it could well be to do with that. He's a rich guy and talented with some great achievements. He's also shown that he sometimes doesn't think through the consequences of his tweets which then later come back to bite him.

I guess being rich and successful does not guarantee you are clever or successful at everything.

"Prominent doctors and scientists....."

Prominent in the alternative reality you MAGA guys live in, not in the real world of real science.

Lots of screaming on Twitter as people lose from hundreds to thousands to tens of thousands of followers that were, it seems, just originating from bot farms. Their inflated bot numbers meant money to them.

It's funny how some people claim to distrust twitter except when it confirms their beliefs. Got any actual hard information? Or just rumors based on what some twitterers are claiming?

Sigh, the likes of yourself would no doubt have believed the "real science" at the time that the sun revolves around the earth and would have considered Galileo to be a right wing conspiracy theorist when he suggested otherwise.   The "accepted wisdom" should always be challenged and people should be allowed to listen to those challenges and form their own opinion.  Twitter (in its current guise) would have banned Galileo for going against the approved narrative if it had been around back then.

I'm guessing "Truth Social" still has your alternative science allowed.

How did Galileo's ideas threaten to undermine public health? Mortality statistics in the US show that those areas in the US where anti covid vaccination belief was strongest also had the highest levels of mortality.

Sigh, the "real science" has again turned out to be......wait for it......real. The UV light up the rear, guzzling hand sanitizer or eating Ivermectin has been proven not effective against Covid.

All this has been touted as effective remedies among the ""prominent doctors and scientists" in the MAGA-verse so do us all a favour and don't compare Galileo Galilei with those idi "free thinkers".

U.V light does actually kill the Covid virus .

Who suggested U.V light  should be shone in peoples bums ?

I must have missed that suggestion .

Trump did suggest ‘bringing light inside of peoples bodies’.

There are only so many available orifices.
