Frequent Other Thai Forums?

Featured Replies

Does anyone here frequent any other forums? I thought I saw someone from here, had the same weird name at least, on another forum but now I don't remember the forum. It wasn't Thai related. So, for all those with at least 500 posts, do you lurk at other Thai related forums?

I know of a few, but I believe this is the most popular Thai related forum for expats yes?

Some people here frequent other forums too. Sometimes using the same name as here.

One forum out there shares some tv members, has a lot of banned tv members too. Some of them delight in adopting avatars and nicknames of current tv members. it rocks their boat.

me, nah. Tv's fine for me. I believe I popped my head into one of the others when tv was down for a few days last year, but other than that, I stick with my local! :o

That site wouldnt be a door by any chance would it Kayo?

I think habit keeps me here, or maybe just luck by the many warnings one gets! TV is better anyways, habit is crucial to sustaining an unhealthy balance in ones life!

:o

I used to frequent a, shall we say, more loosely moderated Thailand oriented forum but then it was getting increasingly hijacked by a couple of characters who posted laboriously long winded pieces slagging each other off. I got too tedious to bother with so I don't go there any more.

I registered with another similar one but after spending a bit of time lurking there realised it was pure <deleted>.

Occasionally I read Stickman but that suffered from crap writing style, crap grammar and crap content. Notstickman was amusing to start with but once it descended into personal stuff I did an exit stage left. The style, grammar and content was/is worse than Stickman.

ThaiVisa is the only forum I frequent these days and between the main fora and Bedlam it suits me fine. I can get involved in serious discussions or light hearted stuff as and when I feel like it.

It's true! I'm registered with at least one other (possibly two) forums, but tv is the only one for me now. There were some nasty characters on the others and I don't like nasty behaviour whether on-line or real life!

Frequent Flyer Forums? :o

About from AV Stuff ytpe web-boards, this is the only one I've ever looked at. :D

Cheers,

Soundman.

Yep, I butterfly, go to 5 other forums, but only post here, TV is the best IMHO.

(Thats not a knife in your hand is it Teeluk, <deleted> wheres the ducks.....)

Hey, my words are copyrighted, how dare you mess with them?

I've got a couple of thousand posts up on Thai360. I was there before I came here and only visited TV to get advice on visa problems, then stayed.

Which do I like best? Hard to say, T360 is smaller, the atmosphere isn't quite so "in your face". The moderation is excellent and consistent. TV has parts I really enjoy and some that piss me off. (A bit like women).

Also on T360 you get discussion of bars and bargirls... only one sub forum out of about a dozen though, where it's generally banned here; a bit like banning cheese on a Dutch forum or soccer on an English one.

There's also two sub forums for discussing non-Thai related issues.

I spend more time here, mainly because there's more to read. I like the blog section too.

It's tamed down somewhat since it's days as nanaplaza.com. Lost a lot of traffic too. I read it but don't bother posting there. The one named for a door I find to be on an intellectual par of the men's locker room during the special olympics so I don't even bother at all with it.

A few others for Thailand & Asia I do visit and post on but I don't see them as competing with TV, more like complimenting it with either specialized discussions (hotels/travel), or wider focus (General Southeast Asia news & discussion).

I used to check out a couple other sites, but nowadays I stick to TV. By the time I get through everything TV has to offer, I don't have the time to check other places, whether they have "doors", "secrets", "pits" or "bars and ladies".

Many are not as popular as TV, and not as well moderated.

I stopped visiting one site when it appeared a member had posted what was possibly a paedophile pic (based on his comments and the picture itself).

I reported it to the moderators of the site, and all they did was delete the part of his post that made it sound like it was a kiddie pic, and left the picture online. :o

(that site doesn't have doors, pits or bars)

I haven't seen any other sites that offer the scope of topics and in-depth knowledge (of Thailand) that TV has. Maybe that, and the great control the mod/admin have of the site, is why it is one of the most popular sites around ?

Or maybe it's all the Google ads ! :D

This is the only Thailand related site that I frequent, I have seen the others but they didn't have enough content or activity.

What's all the talk about a door? Someone PM me if you don't want to post it.

I assume it's <URL Automatically Removed>, no big secret.

I only come here for the ads, the Google ads being my particular favorite at the moment.

I've never got a definitive answer as to what is the 'bearpit', some say it was a forum on TV where you could tear each others eyes out with impunity, others that it was a seperate forum, most say that it no longer exists, but occasionaly a mod or member will mention it in terms that makes it sound like it is alive and kicking somewhere out there in cyberparadise.

Is it like The Beach? Is it only a select few that make it there?

Will I awake one morning to find someone has pinned a hastily scrawled cybermap to my PM?

If I ever get there will I never want to leave?

It is now... :D

So why can I post the name of Thai360 and not <URL Automatically Removed>? :o

I would assume, not having seen the entirety of your post, that it is a software automatic deletion, whereas, you just typed the name of the other board, which hasn't been picked up automatically.

I must admit, I thought direct references to other boards was frowned upon.

It was part of Thai Visa until they sold it and Boon Mee is a moderator.

Google: The Bearpit, politics and it comes out on top.

It was obviously automatic, just like the F word.

Thai360 operates ethically and doesn't resort to lame spam attacks.

In my opinion, why should Thai Visa use it's resources to advertise for, divert to, bring attention upon or direct TV members to a competing website?

If you had a car dealership, would you drop links to the competing car dealer down the street on your website? I doubt it.

And addressing the "more liberal moderation" issue, as I'm sure you already know, the dropping of URL's is covered in the Bedlam Rules that we all read.

HAAAAAAhahaha now that is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. A political forum modded by a (deleted)

Just a quick look at random, a thread titled 'Global Warming' as I know it's a topic close to Boon 'Dubya' Mee's heart, the OP:

Anyone live in California?

It's been really cold these days.

I'm starting to doubt the whole global warming theory!

Thus spake the mighty Buckwheat.

Sceadugenga backs away, bowing constantly.

You still coming to the Chiang Mai party? I really mean to get there but have several other issues around that time.

I sure am....as a matter of fact we are coming a month early to check out the temperature of the beer. Hope to see you there!
