fixing ceiling fans

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a new motor put in a ceiling fan? We have several that don't work and we could buy new but it seems an awful waste to throw out the rest of it. Next question would be where to get them fixed? We live in Samui. Thanks in advance

Often it is only the capacitor that does not work anymore. A very cheap part that you can get at Lazada for instance. In respect of repair on Koh Samui - ask local people.

Try talking to Supot Electric on the ring road between Bophut and Maenam (closer to Bophut).

2nd the capacitor faulty. I was an electrician in northern Australia where ceilings fans are very popular. Repaired dozens and dont ever remember one with a faulty motor. They go for years. 98% faults always the capacitor. You will find it usually under the cowell covering the motor. Normally a little black square thing. Should have a rating on it like 10uf (micro farad) Very cheap and easy to replace or of course get a tech to do it
