Popular Post webfact Posted October 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 19, 2022 Sanook Thai Caption: Relatives worse off than before Sanook reported that comment online was rife after a family showed a bill from a temple in Klaeng, Rayong in eastern Thailand that listed charges to the nth degree. It all came to 39,200 baht including 8,000 baht for electricity. Listed were charges related to things used, the crematorium, preaching (that was 1,000 baht) and a refrigerated coffin (2,500 baht). But there was worse. The bill specified the sums that needed to be placed in the envelopes for the monks ranging from 300 to 1,000 baht. Sanook went to see Naphaporn, 35, whose dad had died. She said no one had seen such an itemized bill for a funeral before and said it should be up to mourners what to offer. She would never have had her dad cremated there if she knew about all this in advance. It had added to the family's sense of grief at this sad time. Sanook went to the temple - not named in defamation crazy Thailand where the truth does not matter if it can be proved that a party has lost face. The temple announced over the loudspeaker that anyone defaming them would face full prosecution under the law. Sanook thought better of pressing the issue and left. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-19 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post spidermike007 Posted October 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 19, 2022 Defamation should be made into a sport, when the culprits are committing robbery. We must resist these stupid, cowardly laws and make them irrelevant. Laws written by cowards, for cowards. Sue me. Go for it. 2 2

In Thailand losing face trumps everything, Even money - and that's really saying something. People are killed over it. Where I come from we learn by the age we start school to admit if we are wrong. Thais never do, up to the day they die. 2 1

Have you noticed the recently-limited choices for response emoticons on these forums? Bottom line: only positive responses allowed. My responses are now 'no responses' . Pointless to bother. Just dump the silly things anyway as they serve no purpose as they are.
