Disagree. Why go to a country that joins NATO in a war in Europe?

NATO doesn’t fight it acts TUFF.

Yup.  Inflation here does not go percentile.

It goes 20% or more.

Maths does not rate at school.

40 baht noodles becomes 50 baht....simples.

I am in the states now a meal that 4 years ago cost me and the wife 20 dollars is now 30 dollars. Back in CM in 2 weeks time looking forward to it

Once those flight prices normalise I'm sure plenty will come

Certainly agree with you that the high airfares will keep many people from going to Thailand. Currently at least double, or higher than pre covid days. Problem is with the current price of oil, when will they come down? Or are the airlines trying to get back some of the money they lost over Covid?

Mr Yuthasak said that Thailand expects to see the tourists spend an average of 30 percent more per trip next year.

Delusional... how do these people keep a top job?

Better provide an EASY tourist visa good for a 6 month stay .

That will certainly help to attract the old and rich folks to spend the winter month ( and their money ) here .

Free girl escorts' might  help as well? They have tried everything else?

NATO hasn't made any pronouncements on the war in Ukraine I don't think. More's the pity. But this thread's about holidaying in Thailand as a way to save on your fuel bills back home. Bizarre. As has been pointed out,  cost of same, just flights and accommodation, is probably worth a year's fuel bills. And impossible to switch off heating in an empty house. Still needs to be kept well above freezing.

TAT.

Has no concept of, Council tax, Standing charges, and like you said, can't just turn the heating off and walk away.  ( uk) what a bunch of fools the are.

But no real surprise,  as there is only one center of the known universe

and it's Thailand.

Maybe TAT should put the Turkish cigarettes down. :stoner:

With the cost of living high in the UK and Europe plus fuel bills soaring

The cost of Air flights high can't see many Western Tourists coming to Thailand this year or next

Indians and countries around Thailand yes

Dont holiday in Thailand, go to a country that has condemned Russia.

Let us not forget that Laos and Vietnam, along with Thailand, also abstained from voting!

If you cannot afford to pay for your heating back home you can’t afford to come a stay in Thailand for the winter months and there was me thinking TAT wanted high earners visiting maybe TAT should change its name to TIT

The OP does not really say anything of the sort......

Mind you, with the UK talking about power black outs in winter.. on top of the high bills, Thailand  looks like a good idea... even Phuket.

How do you work that out?

I know many OAP's who close up their UK homes for the winter and spend their time in CM. This was before the present financial crunch.  Their savings from not having a "Summer" holiday and not running their UK house paid for the trip,

It is not so much about not affording to pay the Energy bills but more a case of why not spend that money on a holiday instead!

We must be very strange as booking our flights to thailand our electric bill never once came up in our thinking. I think if your going on holiday because your worried about your electric bill maybe spending over £2,200 on a flight isn't a good idea.

Cambodia, Phillipines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Maldives all did.

Vote against a country that thinks a demonstrably murderous, power crazed thugbeast deserves "fair" treatment.

"Vote against a country that thinks a demonstrably murderous, power crazed thugbeast deserves "fair" treatment." Could be just about any country in the world. Try living your own life you may enjoy it.

More complete BS from TAT ????  They only seem to excel in any form of BS...
You should know by now that whatever TAT says the opposite is often (always?) true

Exactly! You could always get a fare through middle east for £400 or less, now around £950-1000

A lot will depend on currency exchange rates. There is a good chance Baht will be losing value slower than Euro or Pound this winter because Thailand doesn’t shoot itself in the foot damaging relationship with strategic energy suppliers like western countries do.
