Popular Post webfact Posted October 25, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 25, 2022 Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported on a visit of 32 Thai tourists to a beachside resort in Chumphon, southern Thailand that went wrong. The party from all over Thailand that included business people and female civil servants were all invited by Chumporn furniture dealer Thanom, 58. He was proudly going to show off his province with a tour and a fancy dinner for the participants. But after the gusest had arrived and well after 36,000 baht deposit had been made for seven rooms the resort announced at 10pm that they could not fulfil the booking. The resort owner claimed it was an electrical problem. Thanom went with his lawyer Jarin Kongma, 56, to the Pak Nam Chumphon police whose call to the resort to get them to repay the money got instant dividends. Picture: Siam Rath But Thanom said it was a deplorable situation that need to be addressed by the local TAT who should inspect hotels on their patch. One of the tourists called Patiphat said he had come from Chiayaphum and it was a more than ten hour drive. They had no idea where they would be able to stay as the beach was out of the question. The owner of the resort put the phone down claiming another incoming call when reporters questionsed him about this happening before. It appeared that the resort in question has been known to let down customers in the past and there were claims of a hidden agenda. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-10-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post keithkarmann Posted October 25, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 25, 2022 Not allowed to give negative hotel reviews or you end up with a fine or jail time. So I guess the hotel in question had a well deserved 100% rating. 3 1 1 1

So I guess the hotel in question had a well deserved 100% rating. But you can write a review saying exactly what happened and how you feel about the hotel . For example, "upon arrival, and after paying a deposit, my reservation was not honoured, and I had to find another hotel. I had to involve the police to get my deposit returned. I will never book at this hotel again. I recommend not booking at this hotel". 4

It is very likely to cause a loss of business and as such I thought could get the poster in trouble.

You just have to have evidence of what was stated, so in the case stated, keep your receipt and reservation confirmation. Police complaints are recorded. Perhaps the statement may result may in a loss of business for the owner but the onus will be on the business owner to prove that any loss was directly related to the statement and the statement was false or substantially misleading, and of course evidence must support the claim. There have been many articles posted about constitutes defamation in Thailand and the stating the truth ( with evidence) maybe stated even if it defames someone. When you talk about how oneself feels and your future actions, no one can disput that it is false or misleading.
Rhys Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I guess I will be giving the smaller places a try then...
spidermike007 Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 We need to call out these guys by name. I know many are scared of the silly and childish laws here. But, that does not change what is true and what is righteous, one iota. This is simply surly protectionism at its worst. Shame them!
