Daily News Thai Caption: 30 KM swim

It is no wonder that Siranat or Psi Scott has been called a "merman" by his friends.

The 26 year old with a Thai mum and Scottish dad has just completed a round trip 30 kilometer swim from Ao Nang beach in Krabi to Koh Poda.

Psi set out at 10 am on Saturday and returned at 4.30 pm.

Due to rip-tides that put him a bit off course he reckoned it was 30kms plus.

Psi told Daily News he has loved swimming since the first few months of his life and was once a competitor in competitions.

Pre-pandemic he went to the US to study at Calarts and since his return to Thailand he has been working on ecology projects in Thailand.

He is appalled by the amount of plastic trash in the sea and has mobilized 100 locals to do something about it.

Daily News Thai Caption: (Swimmer's) history revealedHis friends all call him "Manut Ngeuak" - a male mermaid.

He said that he had swum to Koh Poda on August 6th, his birthday.

Now he wanted to take up the challenge of swimming back to the mainland too.

He had friends in a support boat all the way.

He is determined to work on tidying up the sea and will be training to do a new swim perhaps to Koh Phi Phi or Koh Hong to raise awareness about marine ecology.

It emerged that his grandfather is one of the richest men in Thailand - Phirom Phakdee, the president of Boonrawd Brewery that makes Singh beer.

Psi has been employed by Singh Estate to work on marine ecology.

Daily News said there was much social media chatter about Psi after his Facebook post.
