Soil/cement floor for driveway and parking

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever done this with soil from former farmland??

What would be the ideal mix in this case??

And would 15 cm suffice for 2-3 cars

thx

Cement will blow away in the wind, use concrete! Cement, sand, aggregate and water!

soil/cement is what they use for rammed earth
10-20% cement mixed with dry soil then slightly wet
you will likely need a few layers, which will add up to more than 15cm,
will you also use rebar?
concerns you may have is rain/moisture and weight of cars

easiest option is use stones/chippings/gravel
you will be finished 10 mins after they are delivered.

Not 10 mins, it’s going to take at least 30 to spread it out. Put a layer of blue sheet to avoid the stone sinking into the soil and it’s the easiest, fastest way. We did this.

Thanks, I was thinking about rebar, thick and on the floor..

I thought about the stones/chippings/gravel as well, but have no idea on pricing vs rebar concrete vs soil/cement

Any idea??

Stone is probably going to be less than 1/5 of the price, possibly a little more expensive if you want to add edging to it, we haven’t bothered SWMBO hasn’t said she wants anything more and the garden is her territory.

Off-topic I know, but just curious... why did you plant your trees in concrete rings?

I don’t know, I see is SWMBO has an answer.

The soil quality is poor so the rings retain the good soil and nutrients

Is there anything against this option? I think for me it is mainly an issue on how it looks.... it might be impractible???
