Thai PM proposes strategic partnerships between ASEAN and US

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has proposed a comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and the United States in the areas of economic development and climate change, as well as a cooperative regional atmosphere.

 

Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said that the prime minister believes that a comprehensive strategic partnership will be pivotal to the enhancement of the relationship between ASEAN and the US and will be the force that will drive the region and the world to towards prosperity and sustainability.

 

ASEAN leaders, including the Thai prime minister, US President Joe Biden and the ASEAN secretary-general, met at the plenary session of the 10th ASEAN-US Summit, held in Phnom Penh yesterday (Saturday).

climate change.... as we can see how good Thailand is dealinf with it in Chiang Mai  and Bangkok, black smoke cars and promotion of use less fossile energy plastic waste as nowhere bins are being seen and an endless list... Mostly things change by starting, but Thailand did not start yet

The Thais are vulnerable to Chinese attempts to steal useful information about the USA. I suspect the US government knows this.

Thailand is everyone's friend. Hedging its bets is fine but they should not think that the US wants to rush into a conflict with China over ASEAN.

• Invasion of peaceful democratic countries yes
• Make Free Trade Agreenents yes
• Compliance with Free Trade Agreenents no
• Massive foreign investments in Thailand without conditions yes
• Military coups to replace democratic elected governments yes
• Avoid CPTPP membership that excludes China maybeee, maybe not
• Support China Silk Road economic plan yes

with only solarpanels you don't save the climate.. What is be done about the prehistoric vehicles driving around, airpollution by burning ricefields, investments for better transportation by train to reduce traffic, less use of plastics.. etc..
