neytil Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Looking for updated info on a good dentist for routine annual services such as check up, cleaning, and maybe 1 or 2 fillings. Good reliable services and reasonable price. There are many past threads on implants, restorations cosmetic treatments etc, but not interested in that, only regular routine dental services. Thank you for any advice
Popular Post Celsius Posted November 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2022 For a bit of excitement I recommend your local Soi Dentist. My wife assured me they weren't washing the equipment with a dishwashing liquid and they did in fact sterilize it inside the microwave. I always ask for Thai price which assures one tiny squirt of anesthetic. In Soi, no one can hear you scream. 4
MJCM Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 When we lived in Pattaya we used this one. Dental Care Center on Pattaya Klang road https://goo.gl/maps/nfPmnzcxib9eVkRa9 Very good but very busy and not that expensive. 1

Tongue in cheek.....? Tell your wife putting metal objects in the microwave is not a good idea.

Some do indeed look like a Microwave but not that sure those that even have autoclave use them for more than storage. And the amount of dust flying in some Soi clinics looks more like snow. Look very closely for clean environment as even a great dentist is a negative if procedure not done in a reasonably sterol setting. For me it is worth an extra cost.

My last appointment I had to wait 2-3 weeks and as Pattaya is now busier it may be longer so book well ahead. Tel 038 720079 1
Aussieroaming Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 I recently paid (last month) 1500 baht for 4 fillings and teeth descale plus 4000 baht for a front tooth ceramic veneer to give you an indication. Service wasn't as polished as some places but it was survivable.

I went to local clinics for years - most were just a receptionist and the dentist was upstairs sleeping and would come and do some work and send me on my way - periodic cleaning for 1000B, the odd filling for 600-1000B. They all seemed great, clean, competent, decent level of English. Then I went to a proper dental hospital and regretted the past 20 years of Thai soi-dental care - first thing, I was off to the in-house x-ray dept. Next i'm looking in a dictionary to find out what a periodontist is, the periodontist told me about orthodontic work that was carried out when I was a teenager wasn't the best .. and showed me why. I was blown away. If you are in Pattaya, take a day trip to bangers and go to Chula Dental Hospital, or any other real dental hospital. 1
kokopelli Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Dr. Tapasit at Adenza Dental in Pattaya is highly regarded and he speaks perfect English, with an American accent. http://www.adenzadental.com/ 1

And they just smile and say no, nothing to worry about .. is it a filling then? When they keep on taking your money, saying they don’t know about specialist dental hospitals but that they have a visiting specialist once a week. Who really knows who is qualified for what in this country? Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want, I was just agreeing with the other poster who said he would rather not go a roadside clinic.

bangkok19 Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 My regular dentist for many years in Sukhumvit Soi 19 closed down forever during Covid... I now go to the Soi 19 Dental Clinic near the Beer garden... Very professional but a bit more expensive than my old dentist.. But they're very thorough. Getting another Crown next month. The Crown I got from my previous dentist (15 years ago) is still intact. I've never had a problem with the Thailand dentist's I've visited HOWEVER, I've heard some horror stories from others! 1

Nattaporn off Klang (not far from Beach Rd end)....turn left just after Ali Baba towards Soi 7. On the left next to Chalet Suisse.
neytil Posted November 17, 2022 Author Posted November 17, 2022 Thanks for all advice given. To clarify, seeking information for Pattaya area only, not Bangkok. Cheers. 1
Skeptic7 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 If close to Jomtien...Ocean Dental is good. Have had a filling and a crown there. Meticulous work and very reasonable prices.
Makoshark Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Since you're only looking for a "good" dentist, go to the corner. If you want a "great" dentist, I go to the Dental Clinic at St. Louis Hospital on Silom. BUT, ONLY go there if you think you are worthy of a "great" dentist. If not, go to your "good" dentist and then you can go to St. Louis for repairs????

Had a 'great' dentist experience at St.Louis but this was way back in the 80's, so highly unlikely same staff but possibly same high standards. Needed a wisdom to be extracted and the female dentist made short work of the extraction process. Couple of jabs and then the crunching as the tooth gave way. Minimal pain for a couple of days and fine thereafter. Was expecting much worse so left a lasting memory of a job well done.
Makoshark Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 The clinic did 6 crowns, 2 root canals. They have the latest technology and at 72 my teeth are "SUPER" important to me. Back in the USA, I had to have another crown. He saw what the THAI dentists did, and applauded them. I had a very back lower tooth filled a week ago, without novacaine, for B1500. Had a composite filling done a few months back, with novacaine, for B2000. Not sure how that compares with other places, but yes, the work is top notch AND it's only a 3 min walk away! Willing to pay a bit more for convenience.

Agreed, as it is near to me also and saves me having to brave the traffic to get to Tai or Klang, the haunt of many dentists. The 1800 for the filling wasn't included in the root canal treatment, which I thought was a bit odd. It was an extra!
