Popular Post snoop1130 Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 The Expressway Authority of Thailand, or EXAT, has warned of legal action such as lawsuits against any internet users who do not delete what they call offensive edited signs welcoming people to the APEC conference in Bangkok. They have given “netizens” 24-hours to remove the edited signs, stating that anyone who edited the signs in a vulgar way or against morality will face legal action if the images are not deleted. The shared images went viral after an original photo of a welcome sign with a typo went viral, which has since been corrected by organizers of the event. The sign has the EXAT logo and since then the original typo became a meme with a variety of other slogans, images, and messages. Popular Post ThailandRyan Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 Touchy people it appears. Ruining the good image of Thailand or is it called besmirching.... 5
Popular Post LivinLOS Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 Under what exact law do they propose prosecuting people for the possession of an image file ?? Lese Majeste extends to the expressway authority now does it ?? 2 2
Popular Post bamnutsak Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 My read is that posting of the original typo-laden sign is not against any law. But that all the edited memes, and some were pretty disgusting, and some were pretty funny, need to be removed or else. But who knows what a "Highway Authority" really means. Thailand gets sillier every day, I love it. 3 3
Popular Post HappyExpat57 Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 Yay! The thought police are alive and well and living as EXAT. 1 2
kotsak Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 What's the big deal, just one letter missing at the end.. It's not like it said "Welcome to the Potemkin village" or something like that..
ThailandRyan Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Just now, kotsak said: What's the big deal, just one letter missing at the end.. It's not like it said "Welcome to the Potemkin village" or something like that.. It was the other online alterations that were done and spread around social media.....think about EXAT and by adding a few letters the word you could make.....and then ......well you get my drift. 1
Boomer6969 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Jesus, just imagine they'd have spelled "Well cum to thighland". 1
Mr Meeseeks Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 The altered sign with 'wellcome to Thailand we have condom we have KY, take care good' etc. a bit too close to the truth for EXAT it seems. ???? 2
Popular Post djayz Posted November 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2022 Where would one find such images and typos? Asking for a friend. 1 1 3
MrJ2U Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 They always overreact. Many people never even new about the misspelled sign or of the "Outdated " memes. Now they've put it in the spotlight and the majority are having a double laugh at the thin skinned government being constantly in an overreaching and over board response. Laugh at yourself and be humble, you'll get a better response. 2
Popular Post Will B Good Posted November 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2022 Is this the one we shouldn't post....just checking. 1 1 1 1
tingtong Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 That is a stupid course of action to try to fake "history", like nothing has happened. If anyone, why not threated with legal action those who made the faulty sign, approved and paid for the faulty sign or perhaps installed the faulty sign? Not one dated to point it out? Strange? 1
