5 killed in bar shooting in Mexican resort of Acapulco

MEXICO CITY -- Five men were were gunned down Monday in a bar in Mexico’s Pacific coast resort of Acapulco.

Prosecutors said one possible suspect had been detained the attack. Three of the men died inside the bar, and two outside or at a hospital.

Also Monday they confirmed that three other people were shot to death at another point in Acapulco in an unrelated attack.

At one point I considered retiring in Mexico, but didn't because of the cartels, crime, corruption, etc. With the resort areas now being fair game, I wouldn't even go there for a two week vacation, no matter how cold it is where I am.

Just a roll of the dice there....About 15 years ago I went with a sports team on a goodwill tour.....We played ball against local teams, meet up functions, school tours, & such....The Mexican sponsors had different venue sports groups come through on different weeks .... La Paz, Baja....

The next week after we left, another group came through & the their bus was raked with gun shots and 2 people died....

It doesn't have the desperation look and feel of the PI, but there is a very real danger there....
