The new feature to pick which wallet to pay from vs the Coupon Wallet automatically being used first  should be a nice option in some cases vs the Coupon Wallet automatically being charged first.

The Spark charger network does seem to be increasing at a rapid pace.

Back in Aug when i was perusing the Spark charger app map for a suitable venue to spend my 300 baht coupon there was only 1 charger in the Nakhon Sawan area, now it appears that there are 4 , one of which has 6 chargers ( albeit around 80 kw each) just where i leave highway 1 and around 30 km’s from the mil’s.

@Pib, how do you check if chargers are online ?

@Pib, how do you check if chargers are online ?

By "online" if you mean have the chargers really went operational now that they are appearing on the Spark app, well, my understanding is they do not appear on the app until they have went operational and actually available for use.  There are 2 new Spark chargers within 1 kilometer of me as the bird flies which I drive by everyday....they appear fully installed....ready to go...but displays are turned off/dark...haven't went operational yet and they do not appear in the app yet.  Probably awaiting some govt approval/electric company approval to go operational.  These new locations have been this away around 3 months now.

Now by online if you mean they have been operational for a while but are they working today...maybe broke right now, well, I don't think Spark has a specific icon/indicator for that.  Instead the "vacancy" number will reflect 0 of 2 at a 2 connector charger OR the charger just disappears from the app when the charger is totally down.  I've seen the later happen on a Spark charger about 10 kilometers from me a couple of times.

Yep, operational would have been a better word than online.

Now this one is nice to see as is very handy for me on my frequent penance visits to the mil .

Max charging output 500kw, which i would assume is 6 x 80 kWh chargers or would you get a faster charge if not all were occupied ?

Anyway, 80 kWh is okay as although have achieved higher charges before it soon dropped off.

On my 3 previous visits to Spark, all 180 kWh chargers, i achieved:

1) 149 kWh for a brief period

2) 95 kWh, the other occupant was close to finishing.

3) 77 kWh when i started charging at the exact same time as a Dolphin.

Yeap, they are growing fast.  When I first signed up with them in mid August 2025 if memory serves me right the Spark app listed 67 locations...around 10 days ago (late Oct) Spark announced its 100 locations promotion....and just now on 1 Nov I counted 106 locations listed in the Spark app.    On their Facebook page they have announced several new locations over the past few days.

I expect a lot of people/businesses are getting franchises with Spark (and similar charging companies) to open an EV charger location as a source of income...pretty much like how many people open a 7-11 franchise location...7-11 stores are popping up all over the place....expect EV charging locations will continue to do the same.

Regarding the Spark Bt100 increment free charging promotion coupon issue which is suppose to happen 1 Nov (today) as of 9:40am I haven't received any rebursement coupon(s).  I should have Bt900 in coupon value coming my way.

Ditto for netizens on the Spark Facebook page who are asking where is my coupon(s). Spark has responded with a "by 3pm today" answer and to be sure to update your Spark app as they just released an update and it will be needed to reflect coupon expiration.  I had updated all my Andoid phone apps yesterday but when checking this morning there was a Spark app update available which I installed

From Spark Facebook page:

Update: I checked my Spark wallet at 1:10pm today and now have Bt900 appearing in the Coupon Wallet....it does "not" show an expiration date.  It just appeared in my wallet; no need to enter any type of  coupon redemption code.

Spark was saying earlier it would have a 30 Nov 2025 expiration date but I see no expiration date anywhere in the wallet....and I did update the app this morning which was suppose to allow showing of expiration date.    It doesn't really matter as I can burn-off Bt900 (and more) during 30 days from my normal driving and I have easy access to multiple/nearby Spark locations.  But maybe Spark flipflopped again and decided against a 30 day expiration date based on customer feedback.  Time will tell.

I got this:

IMG_7688.jpeg.ee008147e038dbc52c82c8fb6207b4dd.jpeg

So i did get a 50 baht coupon which added towards this promo !!.

What i would be interested in is the balance left on the coupon if you charge 150 baht ?

One would assume that the remaining balance would be 450 baht but it might count as 2 x 100 baht coupons used or, Buddha forbid, clear the whole 600 baht out as it is a coupon and not credit !!

Of course the latter won’t happen but if it does I will be joining the netizens in extreme outrage !! 😃

Interesting yours shows a 30 Nov expiration date but mine does not.  I did check again just now if Google Play app store maybe had another late breaking Spark update but it didn't.

Do you use an Apple or Android phone?  If you use Apple it must be an app thingie causing the expiration display difference.  Plus my wallet does not show any informational coupon info like yours shows above.

Additionallly, does the redemption history block/area right below the coupon wallet work for you?  Mine is blank and always displays an "Unknown Error Encountered" error msg....been doing that for weeks now.

Update: Never mind above.  After posting above I sent a msg to Spark on their LINE page explaining my  issues of no expiration date showing, no informational coupon info, and the redemption history error msg.

5 minutes later all above issues disappeared in my Spark wallet....the expiration date is now showing, info coupon showing, and error msg is gone.

And 10 minutes later I got a response from Spark on LINE saying IT is still updating the system related to issuing-out the coupons.  I expect they read my LINE msg and then fixed some issue with my acct.

This is the 2nd time I've talked to Spark via LINE and each time they have responded very quickly.

I had the same as you, no redemption history and an error message for a couple of days already but now all gone.

Using iPhone.

Do you have the redeemed coupon remaining balance notice like i have ?

Seems to be some sort of additional coupon presumably for doing the promo and putting up with the confusion ?

Well, the problem has come back...coupon wallet showing Bt900 without an expiration date, no informational coupon and redemption history error msg, etc.  Spark's server must have problems.

Yes, when my coupon wallet was "briefly" displaying coupon info fully with no error msg I did have that "as of 15 Oct info coupon notice."  See below.   My coupon balance was less than Bt2 at the time which I used up a few days later.

Ah okay, think i understand now, on the 15th Oct 2025 i still had the 50 baht bit survey coupon intact ( i used it on the 25th Oct ) .

So that has gone now and due to the errors with the app has popped up some two weeks too late.

But that does seem to answer my previous question, the remaining balance of the coupons does remain so can be used as and when required, albeit before Nov 30th.

Yes.  Now just for discussion purposes if a person had a "total" coupon balance of say Bt500 which consisted of 3 different coupons "all expiring on different dates" I hope their system will somehow keep a person fully "and clearly" informed on upcoming expiration so a person doesn't end up losing some of their total coupon balance.

Well according to the translation of the details of the app update there should be clear expiration dates in the coupon wallet and a choice to use the coupons or baht balance in the wallet for charging.

Those two options would be good, although tbh with the short expiry date of the 100 baht promo i would imagine most will be using the coupon asap.

Now, if there is the opportunity for gaining other coupons with a longer validity ( I don’t know of any but maybe they do exist) it would be nice to have the choice of which coupons to use for charging also, using short validity first of course.

Do you know of any chance to gain other Spark charger coupons @Pib ??

So far you have been the source of the info re the promos, thats a thank you right there, and the app and FB has filled in some of the details.

But like the off peak promo back in Aug that flew under my radar and with Spark pushing hard to get themselves popular i imagine further promos will appear.

I'm not aware of any other Spark promotions available right now.  Some promotions have appeared for free charging for a few days (usually on weekend only) at selected locations then the promotions disappear....none of these locations have ever been anywhere close to me.

After this latest promotion confusion Spark will hopefully do better planning for the next.

Yesterday/Sunday on the way back home from a MIL visit I stopped by Spark charger to start burning-off the Bt900 in my Spark  Coupon Wallet earned from their recent promotion.

One of the improvements in the very recently updated Spark app was supposedly the ability/requirement at the very beginning of the charging session was to select which Spark wallet bucket to pay from....either the Coupon bucket or Cash bucket...as some customers had been asking for that capability.

And sure enough the updated app does ask you which bucket to take the payment from when "starting" the charging session.  See snapshot from app below.  Press either the Coupon or Cash Wallet button to select and  then you can begin the charging session.

Screenshot_20251102_113659_Spark.jpg.c2730f5e002fdb616e2de10397e6f8e7.jpg

Some of these charging promotions are pretty good...and getting more frequent as charging network competition heats up.

It's like the recent PEA Volta promotion on 1 thru 2 Nov (Sat and Sun) at Bt2.9 per KWH.  Heck, at Bt2.9 that's around 60% of what a person pays per KWH during home charging using PEA/MEA electrons which is around Bt5/KWH including the basic rate/Ft/taxes/meter fee (i.e., the total cost per KWH).

Note: yea, yea, I know you solar system guys don't pay anything for charging at home when not including the cost of installing the solar system....and I wouldn't include the cost either "if I had installed the solar system to power my home without regard to using it to charge an EV."

Why is it that the UK are paying up to 35 baht per KWhr and we're paying a 10th of that out and about (O&A @KhunLA).

Thailand and their private companies seem to be pushing for adoption of EV's and in the UK they are all about profit.

Pure greed on the part of the electric & govt, profits & tax revenue.   Along with control of fossil fuel industry, and UK auto industry wanting to delay EV taking over, and all those loss profits, not selling petrol, and the repair & maintenance revenue to keep the ICEV running.   Vehicle maintenance a huge part of the industry's profit.

Same reason they won't keep up with CS network, and want to make BEV as inconvenient as possible, with MSM spinning it.   How many ICEV fires make the news, vs any EV fire, or even false suspicion of.

Just look at this forum, the opinion of owners, having experiences with BEV, and the skeptics to haters, that have no experience.

Best is the few skeptics, back in 2021 & 2022 on the EV threads, that now own, and are quite happy with the choice to go EV.   Says more than anything.

If the price war isn't proof to you, that we were getting royally screwed over in the past, then you are a total idiot.  Price gouging across the board, as how do you make a better car in the USA (JP brand), with all the overheard, but a lesser version sells in TH for more.

On the OneCharge charging network there is a 24 DC charging connectors location consisting of 720KW DC chargers right next to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.   Stays pretty busy 24/7.    Like at 9:30am this Tuesday morning 20 of 24 connectors were in use.  I expect it's mostly electric buses and taxis...it is open to any and all EVs like us general public folks drive.  Speaking of electric taxis....more and more appearing in the Bangkok area everyday....seeing more and more EV taxis at charging stations....steadily replacing the NGV/CNG taxis.

The Spark Charging app has always been a bit hit and miss irrespective of location or WiFi/5G so today i decided to use my 600 baht balance in one fell swoop.

IMG_7712.png.b40f777af4c6ee0e8ec0910cfd8ce2a9.png

So after a little trip to Bangkok I decided to go past the house and continue on to my nearest Spark Charger, getting down to 3% SOC !!

So, having the charger to myself meant I achieved 148.7 kWh but not for long and the whole thing took an hour.

Anyway, the app was not very responsive and kept giving me the dreaded error message as well as a server connection error as I tried to stop charging as soon after 600 baht as possible.

This Bangchak pump has a couple of PEA chargers also which were very much in demand despite being only 50 kw chargers so maybe others are struggling with Spark ?

Anyway, done and dusted.

I used a Spark charger for a few minutes today....to charge from 5% SOC to 11% (yes, a mere 6% top-up)....a grand total of 3.4KWH costing a little under Bt27.  This was at a Spark charger I hadn't used before about 25Km from my home in western Bangkok.    That charge session went smooth...app/charger responsive....when telling the app to stop charging the charger stopped in about 1 second....paid from my Coupon wallet.   So far I've found the Spark app and chargers to be very responsive....no charging session glitches so far.

Why did I only top-up from 5 to 11% you may be wondering?    Well, the wife and I started off this morning planning only to drive around 150Km round trip....but by the time we finished we drove around 340Km....turned out to be  full day of site seeing.  Like going to the Bridge Over River Kwai in Kanchanaburi province to have lunch on the river/under the bridge....then going down thru the Kanchanaburi hills and sugar cane fields on back/rural roads to a restaurant called Soi Cowboy on #4/Phet Kasem Road  just outside of Ratachaburi City.....then on to Nakhon Pathom City....then back to our western Bangkok home.    It was one of our short trips that turned into a long trip.....we just kept going and going.

We left Bangkok with only around 75% SOC and on the way back when about 25Km from our Bangkok home the EV was down to 5% SOC....25Km projected range remaining.  I was "intentionally" letting the SOC get low "and stay low" on this particular trip.   The EV was due for one of those every 3-6 months BYD-recommend BMS calibration charges where you let the EV drop to 10% or less and then do a slow, full recharge to 100% via wall charger to recalibrate the BMS system/range guess-o-meter.

Now still having 25km to go to reach home and being down to 5% / 25Km remaining I was not going to chance running our of electrons just a few kilometers from home.  So, I did a brief top-up from 5 to 11% as I wanted to arrive home with a little under 10% SOC...preferably several percent below 10%.  Got home with 5% remaining which means I most probably would have run-out of juice a few kilometers short of home if I had not done that small top-up.    And right now my Atto is doing the recharge to 100%.

Yea....our short trip turned into an unplanned long trip.....a very scenic and enjoyable day.

New charging locations are opening-up all the time on the various Thailand EV charging networks, but I thought I would post about this one since it's a "6 chargers / 12 connectors 600KW chargers location" in Pattaya....uses the "OneCharge" charging network app.  Opened o/a 7 Nov 2025.  Bt6.9/KWH.  Just a few seconds before posting this I checked to see how many of the connectors were in use at 7:39pm on this Tuesday night....6 of 12 connectors were in use.   See snapshots/comments below for more info.
