How is family mart still doing any business

Featured Replies

7-Eleven have really stepped it up the last few years : more products, cheaper prices, better food, fresh coffee available in most stores

Family mart is more expensive on most products by 2-5 baht, don't have any good deals really, half the food selection and much worse quality products

7-Eleven are surely going to take Family Marts market share

Relax.....CP will take them over soon. Then CP will be able to increase the price of the empty packets of food they currently sell and make another killing.

Depends where you are in the country, in the south they not do that bad. On for example phangan they also have nice new things like bacon packages for the breakfast at just 50 baht (i always end up throwing away the big size packs elsewhere).

And even things like the european red bull, some coffee and other things is actually 5-10 baht cheaper there compared to the 7/11 too. Also I like it there, it feels still more like a super market, 7/11 offers way too much and it hurts restaurants etc too. They now even start doing the pizza oven thing on the island in 711, nobody buys a meal anymore, just coconuts and water.

In Pattaya most Family Marts have closed, inferior to 7 Eleven in every way, even staff were miserable

7 Eleven still will not accept master card for payment, But Family Marts does.

Depends. Family Mart franchise in Thailand is owned by Central.

You're an ESL teacher, yes?

I was told that Family Mart is Japanese owned, and that they are gradually pulling out of Thailand. Most of their shops seem to have gone since before Covid. Although a few seem  to be hanging on.
