Half The Total Of Senators Tipped To Pick Prawit For PM

If Prawit happens to make it through the next round of Thai democratic elections, then I suggest the government's sign maker will be entrusted with "Wake up for meals" sign board and a battalion of young, good looking cadets to follow around for the timely handling of the sign board.

Prayuth and the rest of the hustlers long ago set things up nicely for themselves to ensure their hold on power.

Got a sad feeling the whole team of g**gst*rs will hang on to that power after the 'election'. If so, it'll break my heart......

But there's only so many hands in a deck o' cards. ????????????????

The other half are holding out for a better offer.

All the senators are holding out for better offer and post senate life. Lots of dynamics at play in their decision as they exit their positions after serving their 5 years term

When you say "make it through", do you mean by votes or still alive?????????

This must be a cunning ploy of some sort?

Threaten Thais with Prawit as PM and they may actually be excited and overjoyed to continue with Prayut - more so than now anyway.

Are the next senate appointed by whoever forms the government?

If so, and if Prayut and/or Prawit are appointed by the outgoing senate, then they get to choose the incoming senate.

Neat trick. Not only does it keep the old generals in power, but it keeps each generation of new generals "on side" - a government sinecure waiting for them on retirement.

Valid question indeed.
"still alive" would apply only, if nobody wakes the fellow up for meals
"by votes" depends on how much lose change is involved and since Dr Thaksin most politicians understood to reward voters AFTER the vote with promises for which the VOTERS (in form of taxpayers money etc.) pay.
