Bentley case gets murkier with methamphetamine detected in owner’s bloodstream but not drunk

Metropolitan Police Bureau Deputy Chief Jirasan Kaewsangek gave details of the blood test results which are being reviewed now by a specialist.

Blood test which according to police was taken within one hour of the incident revealed just 10.73 milligrammes of alcohol, well below the 50 milligrammes limit prescribed by the law. Now the Bentley driver, already before the courts for reckless driving, may also face further charges if police can confirm that he was driving under the influence of illegal narcotics. 

Police revealed on Friday that illicit drugs had been detected in the bloodstream of the owner of a Bentley Continental car which was involved in a six-vehicle collision in Bangkok on Sunday night which has sparked public outrage after the owner of the car and his girlfriend left the scene while leaving behind a wine bottle on the seats of the damaged vehicle.

 

The test results are already being reviewed by police who are summoning the businessman possibly to press further charges of driving while under the influence of drugs after the Bentley car owner’s appearance in court this week on reckless driving charges while under the influence of alcohol.

 

The man has been identified as Suthat Siwapiromrat and is reportedly a company director with extensive business interests who has also, in the past, had political connections.

Exactly, at least fines should be proportionate to the value of the car and multiplied by the ego size of the driver (which is easy to determine :D)

He called me last night to tell me it's all a misunderstanding.

 

As he was on his way home from a late night visit to his dentist where he was given some drugs, his gas pedal got stuck just before he experienced a microsleep and his brakes failed.

The Bentley in question was supposedly previously impounded in a tax evasion case, after being illegally imported from the U.K.

 

 

Nothing to see here, after picking up a Bentley at the Joe Ferrari car dealership, the owner stopped off at Boss's dentist for a check up. Then there was brake failure. Happens all the time.

Didn't numerous news clips and posts previously, say that the blood test was taken 5 hours after the incident?

Earlieron there were articles referring to the fact, that the blood test was taken five hours after the incident ........ time warp or "back to the future 4"? 
Book the fellow, fine him according to this wealth and only then the semi-divine police "force" might start getting a whiff of credibility and pass on the bucket to the courts in the land. There the next hurdle is waiting but given the fact, that Thai judges can "relax" in illegally built villas paid for by the taxpayer, explains the rest of this farçe making Thailand the laughing stock of Planet Earth!

I hate this sort of behaviour as much as any one, but, to be fair, the fien should be for the offence, not how much he can afford.  if th law says the fine fro Drug driving is max XX Baht, hen he can only be fined XX Baht, even i this is small change to him.  

I hope the loss of reputation of integrity will hurt him more  ( though do any Thais care about personal integrity?)

Thailand is not the only country in the world, where the rich and influential are seen to get get preferential treatment.

I think that in UK, an offenders financial situation is taken into account when issuing fines. Makes sense to me. No good fining someone if they cannot afford it.

So the d..k head was on meth and drunk. Make no mistake, if he had been breatho'd at the road side he would have blown well over. But the filthy RTP have done whatever possible for him to walk, so they should all be released of duty and given the a s s. It’s time to realize the harsh realities of the real world. People like him or the Red Bull guy feel more entitled than a noodle street vendor. The reality is they are.  For all the contributions they make to the economy and the society they’ve earned the better treatment they expect than does a common person. It’s the case everywhere and not just here.

This man committed traffic offences in a terribly irresponsible way (even though there were no serious injuries) but he has acknowledged his resposibility, he has been charged with a number of offences (with more to come) and he has promised full compensation, including new vehicles to all involved.   What more than that could he do for those involved and why so much continued condemnation of him by Thaivisa ranters?

He has been booked but now you want the laws that specify the fines applicable ignored just for his case?   Or are you suggesting that there should be no limit on the size of fines for everyone and every offence?

You can't read?   It has been confirmed that he was not drunk as per traffic laws.  Where has it been confirmed that he was specifically intoxicated "on meth"?

Surely you don’t think his actions are not worthy of condemnation ??

 

I do agree... he’s taken responsibility, or, rather, he has sufficient funds to allow his money to take responsibility for him.....

 

I won’t hold my breath to actually see him stick to his word though and replace the vehicles he destroyed.
