Massive wave of Russian overstayers and illegal workers

Rivers of tea money just ahead.

 

Over the next few months as tourist visas expire there will be a massive wave of Russian overstayers trying to avoid the war.

 

They will also be attempting to work illegally to fund their stay.

Deportation is the least favoured option.  Having the overstayer remain here and provide periodic tea money payments is what will happen.  Only the truly broke will be deported.

 

Same applies for working without a permit.  Blind eye will be turned while tea money keeps flowing.

Been to pattaya the other day and i have never seen so many non tourist's foreigners running around as i witnessed that day, what has contributed to such an influx of so many i wonder?...

russians, as well as ukrainians, were coming already before war, since November 2021, when thailand introduced test and go.

Russians were the larger part of arrivals to phuket.

If there is a recent influx, it's not related to war (nothing changed there recently, russian mobilisation was in September and lasted just a few days), but winter months, seasonal charter flights availability/lower fares. Exactly the same was happening pre-covid.

They can go back to russia anytime and return to thailand unhindered, as many times as they want. They have passports and no need for visa - they are visa exempt. So 45+30 extention.

 

There might be, however, influx of chinese, as soon as they will get passports, after 3 years of china not issuing passes. 

 

In both cases they have chance to marry thai citizens, stay permanently and apply for the WP. Workd cheaper than visa agents and without associated risk dealing with them.

How about attribution for your assessment, otherwise it's simply a post with the intent of disparaging a specific ethnicity and citizens from a specific country without providing any substantial evidence or facts.

The title of your post is stated as a "fact."  Just saying...

You are totally wrong. 

A healthy percentage of traveling Russians these days to Thailand and other places they can enter without a visa is related to fleeing mobilization.

Indeed, the Russians have the same visa run options as everyone else, if not better....AFAIK they are visa exempt in Vietnam as well.

 

They were the biggest foreigner community in Samui pre-covid, I have no idea what visas they stay on, but is not retirement as most look less than 50 years old.

he said that mobilisation has already started and will last the whole year.

The other sources say it will start from 15.01.

There is no recent influx of russian consctips to thailand.

They were steadily flowing out for over a year now, and more since since mobilisation in september.
