PTP was hugely corrupt too, Prayut was going to clean that up and failed. Nothing will change besides who gets the money. None of them want a system that is clear and transparant because then they all would loose their benefits and reasons to be in government.

 

Its a sad state of affairs, i do hope that Prayut loses. Maybe the opposition can go after corruption of the Prayut government then. But at the same time they will create their own. So its not a solution but at least some will face jailtime. Better then none at all.

You speak a lot of sense but when it goes to the very, very top, and the idea is to protect him/them, there is little chance of change. If the common person actually took notice and realised that collectively they could make real change, if they took notice. 

 

My instinct says that nothing different will happen. the normal status quo.

If Prayuth would be doing anything to fight corruption he would have a conflict of interest .....

Endemic corruption is never easy to eliminate; reducing corruption in other countries takes decades of uninterrupted democratic rule.  It's also a never ending battle, corruption is never completely eliminated and there are always greedy officials eager to bring it back.

 

I am not aware of any military government or other autocracy that ever attempted to eliminate reduction, at best they might attack corruption that doesn't benefit the existing power structure.

 

If Thailand is to get corruption under control it needs uninterrupted democratic rule that is not threatened by another military coup, not this facade of democracy it currently has.  And it needs for people to be patient and not expect quick fixes.  I well remember the people who cheered Prayut's coup because a few years of democratic rule hadn't eliminated corruption.  They actually thought Prayut would make things better!

Yes, lest we forget......he rolled into power with tanks behind him and a promise of eradicating corruption and 'returning happiness to the people.' Personally I don't see that he has done anything at all about endemic corruption and I'm a faring so I can't comment on whether happiness has been returned to the people as farangs were specifically excluded from having happiness returned apparently as we were happy enough already.

It was her, and forensic institute she set up and chaired, who approved for purchase by thailand 2500 fake bomb, drug etc detectors called GT200, at $1000 per piece. 
By using this magic vand she has decided, that the only dead victim of police crackdown on PAD violent protest on 08.10.2008 near the parliament was hit by police gas canister. 

She, and nobody else ever admitted their mistake, apologised or faced any consequences. 
Many/all, that including her, were bribed by the manufacturer. 

also I have came accross an article from 10.11.2020, which shows her as a nasty piece of work:

she is as corrupted, as nasty as all senators. Thats exactly why they were selected by the junta. All of them are the core of political establishment

Unfortunately many including myself thought that phayut might turn things around - - - but no it wasn't to be and now he's been here too long causing untold damage that will take years to rectify, if ever in my life time.

And this is the true definition of heroism, patriotism, courage, and facing fear. Kudos to her. She speaks out regardless of whether or not it will change anything, or put her in danger. She speaks out, because it is the right thing to do, in the face of pure greed, total indifference to your people, avarice, and absolute moral bankruptcy.
