Man "back from the dead" after funeral preparations made - locals ask if he has the lottery numbers

Thai Rath reported on the case of a NE man in Thailand who remarkably recovered as preparations for his funeral were underway.

Raklae Kaewkrunork, 56, was surrounded by happy relatives who believed he had died and come back with a tale from the other side.

Now locals in the village are asking if he has the lottery numbers for the next draw.

Raklae's wife Lakhon, 54, said he had always been in fine health.

But on January 16th he developed breathing problems.

After being transferred from the Nikhom Kham Soi hospital to Mukdahan Hospital doctors diagnosed coronary artery disease.

They told relatives that he would soon die and they must prepare for the worst.

Relatives took him home to die. He was fitted with a respirator.

Back at home after the respirator was removed Raklae had no pulse and was unresponsive. Everyone though he had died.

But six hours later as his funeral was being prepared he sat up and started talking and breathing normally.

He talked all day and night - strange for a quiet man.

The local phu yai ban called Yat said that Raklae was his friend.

He had a weird story from his close encounter with death about the slaughter of pigs, chickens and buffaloes in another village.

Whether it really was from the other side was up to what you believed, said Yat.

Relatives were thrilled that he had recovered.

While neighbors who heard the story came over in droves to see if he had numbers from the nether world that might help them win the lottery.

What's with Thais and lottery madness? everything is measured in chances to win the lotteries and even some of my educated friends are lottery mad...

Yes, the first thing that comes to mind was the lottery.

So no doctor was called to verify he had actually died and signed a death /report/certificate?

Lucky they didn't cremate him.

He would have gotten a little hot under the color if you know what I mean...

Priorities.. ????

Man: "I almost died and feeling groggy"

Public: "Like we care, shut up and give us some numbers"
