Seven shot dead at Jerusalem synagogue

Seven people have been shot dead at a synagogue in East Jerusalem, with at least three others injured.

The incident happened in the city's Neve Yaakov neighbourhood at around 20:15 local time (18:15 GMT).

Police described the attacker as a "terrorist" and said he had been "neutralised".

IF the Israelis actually are committing genocide against the Palestinians, they are doing a pretty poor job of it.  The population in places like Gaza is exploding (maybe I should use a better adjective)...

 

When I hear people fighting about "ancestral lands" it makes me yawn.  Same everywhere. Native people want their "ancestal lands" back, Russia wants their "ancestral lands" in Ukraine, China wants their "ancestral lands" in Taiwan, all the same.  Back in 1948 the Arab League tried to get back the "ancestral lands" by killing all the Jews that lived there. They failed. Now they need to learn to accept the consequences. 

 

If you want to be Palestinian anywhere in the Middle East, Israel is probably the best place to be. Palestinians are citizens, vote, are in government, and have protection.  It is a messy region, Israel is the least messy of the countries there.

Okay. Then please apply this standard any time any innocent people are murdered by terrorists for political purposes. 

Thousands killed at the World Trade Center? Terrible, but not really surprising given what the Americans did in the Middle East. 

129 French kids killed at the Batoclan concert for Ariana Grande? Not surprising given how the French treated the Algerians or discriminate against Muslims in the Banlieus.

 

Just keep that energy for every time some completely innocent person is killed because of someone else's political ideology. I'm sure it's mere coincidence that this vitriol seems only reserved for Israel, clearly the worst and most undemocratic country in the Middle East with the least respect for Human Rights. The "but" is just another way to dehumanize the victims who were not targeted for anything any individual one of them did. So don't be discriminatory, add that "but" to every innocent victim is in your comments.

All of you who wrote or liked this comment should really reflect about your internal dialogue and whether you actually do harbor some sentiment against a certain race of people. Or, like I said, bring out them "buts" as a response to every tragedy.

Unfortunately the situation has been deteriorating badly and an escalation like this was predicted.

This has been going on most of my life, and again - it is tragic.  I have no answers.
I find it immensely sad for the average Palestinian and Israeli citizens.  Prayers for both sides.  I wish there was a way to resolve the mutual hatred.  ????

They were shot in retaliation for the 10 Palestinians killed a few days back. That's what happens when one nation illegally occupies another's land, collectively punishes them for any attempt to free themselves from the occupiers, and gives them no hope for freedom.

Lock up millions of people for decades, and the result is entirely forseeable.

 

Give a people no hope and they have nothing to lose. The PA has withdrawn all co operation with the occupying government, so expect more such.

 

One could expect the Israelis to know what Hosea 8:7 says  “For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.”. They have sown the wind, and the whirlwind is coming.

Those shot Palestinians were terrorists who were about to engage in terrorism and resisted arrest which led to a firefight and they got killed , also some people got shot in the crossfire  .

Those who fled or were expelled during the 1947–49 war, and the Six-Day War were not/ are not allowed to come back.

 

In addition, what has been left to the Palestians is not sustainable from an economic point of view, as the most wealthy parts are controlled by Israel, in particular the Jordan valley.

So that is OK then? Seems you don't put much stock in Palestinian lives- all terrorists or something, so OK for them to be killed?

People about to carry out terror attacks should be stopped and if that means they they killed in an attempt to stop them, then so be it  .
