Thai Rath reported on the death of a Pak Chong police patrolman who was shot in the face as he gave chase to another motorcycle last night.

At 9:15 pm Pak Chong police received notification of an officer down on the Wat Khao Thai Sayan to Pak Chong Road in Pak Chong sub-district.

Officers along with the local mayor and rescue services  found Pol Lance Corp Attaphon Bunmee with seven shotgun pellet wounds to his face lying in a pool of blood.

He had wounds to his cheek, eyebrow and nose. He was given CPR at the scene and rushed to Pak Chong Nana hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His motorcycle was on its side at the scene crushing a police helmet.

Orasa, 24, a witness to the incident said that she saw the officer apparently chasing a man in a grey hoodie on a Honda Wave. She heard a loud noise but didn't think it was a gunshot.

She parked and found the officer on the side of the road and called for help.

Region 3 police chief Pol Maj-Gen Chusawat Janrojkit and other senior officers were on the scene.

Chusawat said that usually there were two patrolmen on a motorcycle but on this occasion there was just officer Attaphon.

He had been on patrol in the Mor Din Daeng Community when he last called in to base - then everything had gone quiet.

It is thought he had seen someone acting suspiciously and had given chase.

Now the hunt is on for the shooter with police making inquiries in the area and studying CCTV to get a lead.

So presumably the police officer did not fasten his helmet and just let the strap hang loose as they do. Not that that would have protected him from being shot in the face.

A police patrolman was shot dead as he was chasing a suspicious motorcyclist in Pak Chong district of Thailand’s north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Pol Lance Corporal Atthaphol, attached to Pak Chong district police station. He was shot once with a shotgun pistol.

The investigative commander of Region 3 Provincial Police Bureau, Pol Maj-Gen Chusak Chantharojkit, said that Atthaphol was usually accompanied by a partner on routine patrol missions adding, however, that his partner was engaged in other activities and he went on patrol alone.

Depends on what social status the gunman has.

He was on a motorcycle, not in a Lamborghini, so unlikely to get the Red Bull treatment. Possibly a hitman, judging by his marksmanship. Their life expectancy is low :they either end up in prison or get shot.

If it was a hitman, the police was corrupt as 99 % of the Thai Police are.

OMG , never heard that one before. ????

Now you've said that, things in the USA will get better.

A familiar theme all over the world with sick  suspicious people refusing to adhere to police commands.

Hope they catch the deviant!
