Dramatic VIDEO footage from Ayutthaya published by Thai Rath showed the moment when a private school bus taking students home was involved in a collision with a ten wheel truck carrying sand that went through a red light.

The school bus spun round and ended up damaging a pick-up outside a motorcycle shop.

The teacher driving the vehicle - Prasit Raksa, 37 - was injured after being thrown out of the vehicle. A student was also taken to hospital with a wrist injury.

Police captain Charoenchai Phothisarach from the Nakhon Luang constabulary attended the scene in Bang Rakam sub-district at 4.30 pm.

Teacher in charge of students on the bus Phairee Buttawong, 27, said they had been taking 30 students of various levels home and five were still left on the bus.

A witness said the bus went through a red light, a fact confirmed by CCTV.

Trucker Kiatsak, 42, stopped 100 meters down the road with a burst left rear tire. He said he was carrying 32 tons of sand to Saraburi.

He said he saw the green light from a distance then it turned to amber and he tried to get across the intersection. He was unable to brake in time. He was in shock.

Police are investigating.

" he tried to get across the intersection. He was unable to brake in time. He was in shock."

An everyday event in Thailand.....red lights just mean go faster!

Red lights,  pedestrians,  crosswalks,  seatbelts are for the most part not recognized in the LOS

I am at a loss to understand how the teacher/driver was thrown out.

Surely as an educated man with a university degree and holding a licence which qualifies him to drive a school bus, he would have been wearing a seat belt ?

He said he saw the green light from a distance then it turned to amber and he tried to get across the intersection. He was unable to brake in time. He was in shock.

So an amber light means speed up?

Lucky there were only a few kids left on the bus...:whistling:

Trucker can't get out of this one....:crying:

What! what was confirmed by CCTV is, it was the Truck, and the driver admitted it.

Doesn't matter, he is still 100% at fault.

Q.E.D.

That and and The Serenity Prayer.

You know you are in Thailand if you end up going through a red light, feeling a little guilty, look in your rear view mirror and see three guys come through behind you.
