A Canadian tourist has been charged for fighting in public before being reported to the Thai Immigration office after he first claimed that he was attacked and robbed.

According to Thai police, the man lied and had actually started the fight.

 

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express on Thursday (March 2nd) that after a full investigation they found, according to them, that Mr. William Lamarche-Saint-Louis, 28, a Canadian national, was not robbed as he said at first. The actual situation was a fight between Mr. William and beach vendors that spilled into a nearby beach restaurant.

 

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that last month Mr. William sat on a beach bed while heavily intoxicated. The beach vendor asked William to pay for the beach bed or he had to order a drink first before he could sit. Mr. William became upset and started a verbal argument and physical fight with four Thai men, according to Thai police.

so much for the myth that canadians are 'nice'.

i feel sorry for the tourism industry having to deal with all these drunk idiots. 

 

So a Canadian man started a fight on four Thais…..surely it was one Thai and the other three got involved. 

Wonder how much the vendors give the police , total bs , so he hits 4 vendors and they fight back  , the picture shows nothing but maybe that’s the one that doesn’t look back for the vendors 

So funny.. they highlight the men and than blurr the face.... So highlight it than??? I think the story is incomplete... as we all know, that fights don't start from nothing... 

Crashed out on the beach and woke up thinking he was playing hockey.

He should be arrested for his name alone. If he has made a false statement and signed it he is in big trouble, this will be a court case.

With drunks fights do start from nothing. In this case the Canadian was trying to steal a Thai's livelihood, use force to obtain a service without paying, any number of other charges. You can not hold your liquor you should be Red Carded out of the country.

I don't know who is right, the only thing I see is four cowards against one.. Classic.

Some people still seem to think there is a lot of difference between countries. Though i believe there are general cultural values per country. But every country has criminals and idiots and unfortunately they have passports and travel.

 

I don't know what to think but drunk people in general make bad decissions so him starting the fight is not an unreasonable assumption.

You still think there are fair fights.. maybe when you were young (im assuming your older then me and I am almost 50).

 

But even when i grew up in the Netherlands there were guys that looked for fights when they had a huge backup. The idea of a honest fight is long gone. If it ever existed.

It depends on what lead to the fight.  IF (big IF) it is really true that the Canadian was drunk, belligerent, and started the fight, then why would the beach chair vendors want to fight "fair"?  

 

Not to mention that average falang is significantly larger than a Thai, how is that fair anyway?

Why get sooooo drunk or <deleted> as the Brits say?     Why not just meditate and enjoy some green tea?

Unless you are Mauy Thai fighter 1 would be more than sufficient to do the job " its good night farang " seen it all before little Thai who happens know Muay Thai and varely good ! take out 2 farangs put them on the deck .. egos l'm big foreigner your just little Thai

Average Thais have no more proficiency in Muay Thai than an average Westerner has proficiency in Western Boxing.

 

An average Thai, which, by definition, is what they are.......would get flattened.

I don't think tattoos make someone bad, but getting blind drunk and starting a fight does. Would someone without tattoos who started a fight or got blind drunk annoying people be a good tourist in your view ?
