Popular Post Tayida Posted March 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2023 It's something that happened to someone and they told me: whether it's possible or not, I ask for your opinion. Is it possible that a foreigner, with 189 days of overstay, paid 90,000 THB to avoid being taken to the IDC? The check should have taken place for the signaling of a neighbor bored by the constant shouting of the foreigner and his wife/fiancée. 2 1 3
FritsSikkink Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Maybe he paid for a ticket to go back to his home country + 20K for overstay. 1 1

Popular Post BritTim Posted March 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2023 Under suitable circumstances, a 90,000 baht bribe can achieve many things. However, we know almost nothing about the incident you are referring to. Just being on a long overstay does not automatically mean you will be arrested and incarcerated in the IDC. It just means you could be. If you go to the airport with a booked flight out of Thailand the same day, you will be fined, blacklisted from returning to Thailand, and allowed to take your flight out. 5

As far as I know, some people living near the couple (foreigner man/Thai woman) called authorities for the noise that they listen every day from them: loud music I think. IO and police shows up and he paid the 90000 and still there. But it's just a story they told me, so don't know if is real or not. 1

This sounds very farfetched, and you're not sure it's real...so why start a post---some people! 6 1

Wow, sounds like a stand up guy, partying with loud music daily + an incredibly irresponsible ho-hum attitude about overstaying here, which is a very serious thing. Why do these degenerates even come here? Cause they struck out back home or what? Go <deleted>ty-up your own Country. No sympathy whatsoever. Do you duty to get your immigration status in order. He was probably too hungover to do anything when the day came to renew his visa ???????? 1 1

In the Australian bureaucracy it means 'Interdepartmental Committee'. But I'm thinking this is quite likely not what it means on this thread. 1

asf6 Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 It sounds to me like the guy just paid the fine for his overstay. Isn't it a fine of 500 baht per day for overstay? 180 days of overstay would be a fine of 90,000. 1

You sound like another retired teacher I'll never understand why people like you get their panties in such a bunch about other peoples' immigration status. Unless you work for the immigration department it really isn't something to concern yourself about at all, is it ? Or are you indulging in a rather perverse form of virtue signalling?

However, the fine is capped by law at 20,000 baht maximum. Anything over 20,000 baht would be to pay for something other than an overstay fine. 1 1
