Bangkok pollution? What pollution? Only 148 seek health checks in 12 days

The BMA spokesman in Bangkok Ekwaranyu Amrapan said that only 148 residents had sought help at specially set up clinics for people suffering from air pollution.

 

The clinics were set up on March 1st in six hospitals in the Thai capital including Charoen Krung, Sirindhorn and Taksin hospitals.

 

But business was very light.

 

Only 148 people turned up at the six venues until 12th March, reported Thai Rath.

 

And 48 of those were on one day, March 10th.

 

After that there were only eight people.

 

Most had chest pains or red blotches.

There's no problem with air pollution for as long as government suits are getting 'political donations' from the the big players in the food and agricultural industry.

Hundreds Seek Treatment from Bangkok’s Air Pollution Clinics

 

 

BANGKOK, March 14 (TNA) – Almost 900 patients have sought medical care at six air pollution clinics since October last year, said Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesperson, Ekwaranyu Amrapan.

From Oct 1 – March 12, the BMA recorded 883 patients at pollution clinics. As the PM2.5 levels in the capital remain high, since the beginning of  March, the number of patients has already reached 148.

 

Air pollution clinics are located at six BMA-run hospitals including Klang, Taksin, Charoenkrung Pracharak, Sirindhorn, Ratchaphiphat, and Luang Phor Taweesak Chutinataro Uthit Hospitals.

Excessive PM2.5 levels in Bangkok on Tuesday

 

 

Air quality in Bangkok and its suburbs today (Tuesday) varies from good to a level which is beginning to affect health, with PM2.5 exceeding the 50-micron safety standard in 69 areas, according to the Air4Thai website.

 

Meanwhile, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) air pollution clinic reported 148 cases of patients affected by air pollution receiving treatment at six hospitals run by the city administration from the beginning of this month until Sunday.

 

The five areas in Bangkok and its suburbs with the highest PM2.5 readings this morning are: Ma Charoen Phetkasem 81 Road in Nong Khaem district, 75 microns; Khlong Taweewattana Road in Taweewattana district, 74 microns; Putta Monthon 1 Road in Taling Chan district, 71 microns; Taweewanarom Park in Taweewattana district, 69 microns and Phetkasem Road in Phasi Charoen district, 68 microns.

The absolute absence of truth is a sign of the total degradation of moral character and any sense of ethics or fair play. These guys will say or do anything. They are utterly depraved. 

 

The number of people suffering from health problems is likely in the hundreds of thousands. Attempting to mislead the public not only accomplishes nothing, it exposes you for exactly who you are, Ekwaranyu.

Because people who suffer AP adverse health effects are already going to their internal Medicine, eye and pulmonary depts…

 

The structure is already in place but gov wants to show by creating another structure that people don’t use, then the gov can say AP causes no health problems…

MP2.5 are very dangerous to all. It is one of those things that can have an immediate effect or more often long-term effects from exposure. Respiratory problems and yes cancers. Bangkok is very dangerous and people die by the thousands yearly from it. To put the severity into prospective London has only One death ever attributed to vehicle pollution in recent times and that is a "suspected" cause. I've lived many times in Bkk over the years and the places I lived you could go on your balcony look over Bkk and see the grey cloud of pollution.

In other news that I am unable to quote here due the "rules" over 200 thousand were submitted to hospital in the last week alone as a direct result of the pollution. That's more in a month than the last three years.

If the government cares about these people, how about trying to eliminate this practice of polluting the whole continent with smoke and dust?  Why would someone choose to go to this clinic?  If I had trouble breathing, I'd go to a proper hospital

Air pollution in Bangkok is normal. I spend as little time in Bangkok as possible (measured in hours per year!). Any one who is worried about the air quality in Bangkok should move to somewhere safer.

Having a clinic for air pollution is like having a clinic for smoking. It's not the cough or tired eyes today that people worry about, it's the cancer 20 years down the line.
