Accident Ultralight Aircraft Crashes on Road Near Phuket Airfield
UPDATE Flight Instructor Dies After Light Aircraft Crash in Phuket Picture courtesy of Khaosod. The flight instructor has died following the light aircraft crash on a road near Pa Khlok, Thalang district, Phuket. The incident occurred on the afternoon of 18 August, when the ultralight aircraft, came down on a road shortly before reaching Pa Khlok airstrip. The crash shocked local residents, who witnessed the aircraft hit the ground in dramatic fashion. Initial reports confirmed that the instructor, identified by colleagues as Khun O, suffered severe head injuries and a broken ankle in the impact. Despite being rushed to hospital, he later died. Khun O was also the manager of the local airfield and a well-respected flying teacher in Phuket. A student pilot on board, Sergey Razukov, 36, a Russian national who has lived and worked in Phuket for around five years, sustained a head injury but remained conscious and is now in a stable condition in hospital. The “Flying Phuket – Thung Kwai Bin” aviation group posted a statement on Monday expressing deep sorrow at the loss: “We are heartbroken by the passing of our manager and flight instructor, Khun O. He was a mentor, colleague, and friend. We extend our condolences to his family and ask that he rest in peace.” Authorities said the precise cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
