The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) will seek help from the Ministry of Defence to look for the missing caesium-137, as officials remain unsure that the radiation already detected in several places is actually from the missing radioactive material, according to Kitkawin Aramrun, a radiation expert at the OAP.

He explained that the Defence Ministry is better equipped and has greater expertise, which could be helpful.

Kitkawin disclosed that OAP officials have detected caesium-137 radiation in three more places in the foundry in Kabin Buri district of Prachin Buri, where it is thought that the metallic cylinder and its caesium-137 contents had been melted down at one of the furnaces.

The Minister of Defense was PM Prayut until the caretaker government was formed recently by announcement of the May election. The caretaker PM is one of the military coup leaders/"consultants." If issues of nuclear waste has been an unresolved or unrecognized problem for the last 9 years, what would change now?

They've detected it but not really found it... but Prayut says everything's okay

They can’t find something the size of a fire extinguisher , yet the Aussies found something the size of a pea in 300km of roadway !! ????????

If they haven't found it, where do they think this other radiation is coming from? Another lost or stolen radioactive item?

Don't give them ideas.

Since they probably gave them away to their cronies they will now be thinking of going out and buying more.

"Assistant Professor Napapong Pongnapang said the amount of missing caesium-137 is only 0.0005g compared to the 1986 Chernobyl explosion which released 27kg of caesium-137."

Well that's clear. I can hear a sigh of relief from all Thai people.

More useful, the total cesium in the lost Australian source was 19.9 GBq compared to 1.6 GBq in the Thai capsule inside the meter, or just 8%.

Or 'was' until they melted it down in a pile of scrap metal. So what's next, more Thai radioactive 'health' cards like here.  ‘Magic’ cards sold in Thailand to cure diseases ‘found to emit dangerous levels of radioactivity’

That radiation could be from other material that has been Misplaced /not reported  missing as Yet,(will be soon).
