How to download / convert music videos from YouTube to mp files on PC

Title says it all. I know I asked this question a few years ago, but the site that was recommended to me back then seems to have been taken over by hackers/viruses. My antivirus software goes bananas every time I call that site up. What sides do you use?

On FireFox just search for extention 'Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express'.

I recall having to enable then disable the extention a few times to get it going.

Never had a problem with viruses or hackers.

Can DL mp3 or mp4

I've been using Click Downloader for a while and it's excellent. It downloads any YouTube video and you can download it as mp4 or mp3. Useful if you just want the music from a video. It's free but I paid some trivial amount like $10 lifetime to add additional features. There are no ads from YouTube or the software.

Often, a video download will slow to 31kps as it reaches close to the end of a video, and they told me it's because of something YouTube does as you aren't supposed to be able to download their videos.

Why getting your music from Youtube? Just torrent it?

I want to download onto my USB stick and play while driving or out working in the garden, where I don't want to have my phone.

Why not just use Spotify.

Paid version you can make unlimited lists.

Great app.  Especially cheap for the paid version in Thailand 129 baht a month.

Use the browser extension Easy Youtube Video Downloader express.

If you're running Linux it's easy-breezy and want to convert them to MP3 files:

ffmpeg -i filename.mp4 filename.mp3

That's it. On Windows download it from here: https://ffmpeg.org/download.html
Run it from the command line.  Same same.

YouTube premium allows one to download and store videos for an unlimited amount of time and play them when offline. Does require a phone or tablet though.  Modest cost here in Asia especially under the family plan.

You are also required to access your account every 30 days to retain the right to keep them downloaded

Sounds rubbish 😊

Better to download them independently and keep them forever without the silly hassle.
