Chinese nationals, who are members of the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church, also known as the Mayflower Church, leave Pattaya Provincial Court in Pattaya, Thailand, on March 31, 2023.

The members of the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church fled in 2019 fled due to alleged religious persecution.

Dozens of Chinese Christian asylum seekers who fled alleged religious persecution in their homeland left Thailand for the United States after being released from Thai custody for an immigration violation, police and United Nations officials said Friday.

A group of 63 members of the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church (also known as the Mayflower Church) had feared Thailand might deport them to China, but American officials and a lawmaker reportedly intervened and persuaded Thai authorities to send them to the U.S.

“They flew out last night on multiple flights,” a police official who works closely with Gen. Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief, told reporters in Bangkok on Friday.

Radio Free Asia’s Mandarin Service confirmed with China Aid staff on Friday that only 59 of the 63 church members are on their way to the U.S. They will arrive at Dallas International Airport at 7 p.m. local time.

One family of four stayed behind in Thailand.

Earlier in the week, Surachate said that Thai authorities had met with American Embassy officials and the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR to arrange for the Chinese Christians to be sent to the U.S. for resettlement.

Well done the US

I wonder what will happen to the family of four that stayed behind in Thailand.

So is China now going to hold military drills to protest this as well?  China just sanctioned the Ronald Reagan Library because Taiwanese President Tsai Ing Wen spoke their.

Very well done propaganda effort.

Great but too bad that a similar kindness was not shown to the Uighur refugees.

That is where their CULT  Church originates from, so let them sort their followers out.

Unknown, perhaps they are legally allowed to remain in Thailand for some reason.

How can they be in violation of immigration if they are asylum seekers?

Thailand's treatment of refugees continues to be horrific. - Families with children split up and separately detained for years  on end.

Political  cowardice. Subservience to Chinese Communist Party.

Not really - clearly religiously prejudiced. There are scores of other asylum seekers in the same situation, families with children split and separately detained for years in appalling conditions.  They are left to rot because they are not "nice and Christian".

No wonder they're beaming.

I believe the Christian faith has been around a lot longer than the United States.

The US welcomes 59 more loony tunes to the party.

This is one of the best reasons for living in Thailand. They don't let these loser "asylum seekers" flood the country, like our gutless countries do. No foreigners are going to swamp Thailand's culture.

It is understandable.

The USA is a predominantly Christian country so it is obvious they will assist mainly Christians.

There are dozens of ultra-rich Muslim countries who could easily have accepted the Uighurs. But none of them take refugees in general at all.

Really the mayflower church started in 1620 so i'll let you work that one out. or you could check on wiki.

Sad because Uighir 're-education' camps in China as they coin it, appear to be harboring some hideous human rights atrocities, particularly the organ transplant business, where there is even an organ transplant express lane at Xinjiang Airport.  Uighirs and anyone else incarcerated are to supply the elite Chinese with spare body parts.  Estimated 25,000 - 50,000 executed a year. Falung Gong have copped it for decades.  CCP do not like religious practices.  They want citizens to worship Communism and Xi Jing Ping.
