Its unpleasant because of the players mentality of trying to "attack" people who don't want to play , soaking a dry person is seen as some kind of victory and they hunt dry people down hoping to hit t

  • It's easily the worst celebration on planet Earth, IMHO.   What other celebration racks up such a death toll?   The traditional way of celebrating is nice, but the way most nutters

It's the Gulf, about 4 kms away.   We're located outside (west of) PKK municipality.  On west side of hwy #4/Phetkasem rd.

Yes, I remember the traditional way of celebrating Songkran, where a person would approach you and carefully splash a few fingers of water on you, then put the white powder on your face, which I found very acceptable and pleased both parties.

Nowadays it's a free for all fight using buckets of water (very often from a dirty klong) and hosepipes, and once you add alcohol, stupid farangs and Thais, then all sorts of things can happen.

I stock up with food and wine and download a few movies, then stay in until this madness is over.

I*n Chang Mai it was buckets of water even 40 years ago. Just not the fancy water pistols they have now.

It is only fun if you go all in. One Time in Ao Nang and One time in Hua Hin, the rest of the times we have been at a beach resort, and avoided the crowds, or in our village where they celebrate the old fashion way, except from a few kids who managed to shoot me with a few water drops from their gun.

Hua Hin before covid was hysterical, and more  ice buckets than I can remember, and also dangerous to pass on motorbikes some of the stations.

What did the house cost you to build....including the fencing....?

I'll PM you, as surely someone will report as 'off' topic.

nothing like starting the day with a face full of dirty freezing moat water on a afternoon motorbike ride....refreshing!

Thankfully, few to none, throw water here, as all done at the swimmer's beach.

Although, there are now 2 farang managed bars surfside, so if any water being thrown, it will be those idiots.

Apologies of course, if assuming too much.

Is there any time when anyone enjoys getting any fluids thrown over them for any reason ?

I took a wide pan of ice water down the back of my polo shirt from massage woman who kept scootching in next to me and patting my family jewels. Maybe a bit too forcefully, actually. Yes, my wife is out of town.

They had a vast chest of water with a giant block of ice floating with it. They had Leo beers floating in with the ice. I put a pint of Santip on the table and tossed her a 100 baht. And I paid for her sontum.
