Day 1: Arrive in Buriram and check in to your hotel. You can explore the city center and visit some of its attractions, such as the Buriram Castle, a replica of an ancient Khmer fortress that houses a museum, a park and a market; the Romburi Park, a green space with a lake and a fountain; and the City Pillar Shrine, a sacred site with a golden spire. In the evening, you can enjoy the nightlife on Walking Street, a weekend night market with food stalls, live music and local products.

Day 2: Rent a car or a motorcycle and drive to the Phanom Rung Historical Park, about 60 km (37 mi) from Buriram. This is the largest and most important Khmer temple complex in Thailand, built between the 10th and 13th centuries on top of an extinct volcano. You can admire the stunning architecture and sculptures of this Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, and walk along the processional walkway flanked by sandstone pillars and bridges with five-headed nagas (mythical serpents). After exploring Phanom Rung, you can visit another nearby Khmer temple, Prasat Hin Meuang Tam, which is smaller but equally impressive. This temple has a rectangular layout with five towers and four ponds surrounded by lotus flowers. You can see many carvings of Hindu gods and mythical creatures on the lintels and pediments of this temple.

Day 3: If you are a soccer fan, you can catch a game at the Chang Arena, the home stadium of Buriram United FC, one of the most successful teams in Thailand. The stadium has a capacity of 32,600 spectators and is nicknamed “Thunder Castle” because of its imposing design. You can also visit the Chang International Circuit, a motorsport race track that hosts various events such as MotoGP, Super GT and Asian Le Mans Series. If you prefer nature and adventure, you can head to the Lam Nang Rong Dam, a large reservoir that offers scenic views and water activities such as boating, fishing and kayaking. You can also hike or bike around the dam and see some wildlife such as birds, monkeys and deer.

Big list! Thanks. Google maps shows them. Was looking for local tips.

So you'd rather have a tip from one member of a grumpy old man's website than from chatgpt which scoured the entire internet and condensed a thousand guys recommendations? ????

How do you know that @Isan Farang is a grumpy old man? Did you ask ChatGPT?

With regard to @setbkk, judging by their helpful post, probably a good chance of being a grumpy old man.

"ChatGPT is not connected to the internet, and it can occasionally produce incorrect answers. It has limited knowledge of world and events after 2021 and may also occasionally produce harmful instructions or biased content."

So with its "incorrect answers... limited knowledge..." and "harmful instructions or biased content..." it's all a bit like Aseannow and other chat forums then?

I see.

I stopped by Buriram for a night in Dec on my way N.

Had lunch at Sida Grilled Chicken at the new location. Had some meatballs at the railroad station. Took a few pics at Chang stadium. Dinner and show at Tawandang, can be very loud so i sat far from the stage.

bamboo bar used to be popular but i haven't been in a few years.  there are some bar/restaurants near the big circle with the Rama I monument.  two are across from the green hotel buriram.  one is kind of upscale and the one next door is less so and has a larger outdoor area.  lots of tables outside, hard to miss as you drive by.  back to the side of the street where green hotel is, on one side of green hotel is another little complex that has a place called 'lighthouse'.  and on the other side of green hotel is an open area that has a 'walking street' type thing set up a couple nights a week.  i can't remember which nights.  i think monday is one.
