Featured Replies

I'm sure this has been asked. I did try searching 45 in this forum but zero results. Search engine must be broken.

    Why?

No. Finished. 30 days.

No, it's now 30 days visa exemption and 30 days additional for 1900 baht.

Following that, a border run for another 30 + 30 cost under $100.

After election might go back 45 days.

Or longer... I stayed 3 months in NZ and almost 3 months in Oz recently. But tell that the TAT. They now seem to prefer tourists from Asia. The visa policy over the past 15 years got stricter and stricter. And I don't see a return to 45 days visa-exempt, unless tourist numbers drop dramatically...

Several years ago also semi-retired guys, or financially independent blokes, often 6 months in Thailand, then 6 months in the old world...

Yes every town is the best yet. This woman in Lampang video said roads chaotic as 2 cars were nearby. I turned it off after that.

Or guys who live a budget then work hard for 6 months.

How is that related to Thailand.

So assume you have farang passport and can visit Oz NZ etc easily.

You would also receive 90 days Japan visa exempt.

Having Oz pp I need visa to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Zero option for visa exempt entry.

For Thailand they provide visa exempt entry to 64 country.

Don't understand some of these posts about what Thailand should do.

Singapore and Malay 90 days but not as exciting. You can fly to Malay and back though.

I tried to add: "And Thailand only 30 days?", but somehow couldn't add it.

With ticket prices currently that high, why would tourists from Europe or North America travel here for only 3 or 4 weeks?

Perhaps coming from Oz it makes more sense. (More flights, incl. budget airlines.)

I agree. If flights are double it deters people. A progressive party would make the visa exemption much longer to attract people.

Fair enough. But I guess these countries are not as much after mass tourism as Thailand is. Never heard that Laos wants to attract 40 million tourists per year...

Again don't follow.

It's VERY easy to stay in Thailand for 4 months.

Visa exempt entry + extension.

Plus one border bounce along with extension. That provides 4 months and one more visa exempt entry via land still in pocket .

That is 6 months right there.

Also METV for even longer stay.

Up to 9 months.

Vietnam (just one example) previously had 3 month multi entry visa. That's currently not available.

Come on.

Lao and Cambodia voa. Vietnam you have to apply in advance so more hassle.

If Malay was buddhist I would just go there, 90 days.

You need proof of onward travel within 30 days. Not always asked though.

Not for land border entry.

As for first entry via air an onward flight can be provided for airline at departure for 12usd.

Will not be asked for by Thai immigration on arrival at airport.

Plus 100% more for plane ticket plus visa extension. All adds up.

Expensive flights plus shorter ve will deter people.

People look at total cost.

Do not understand one word of that.

You can fly to thailand from wherever and enter visa exempt.

As per my earlier post.

That can be extended by 30 days.

A border bounce does not require flights.

I recently flew Bangkok to Saigon return for 3500baht.

If a border run flight is preferred.

Read the thread . It has been explained.

People budget their total costs. If flight prices are high then visa costs hurt them more.

Most Thai guests are budget travellers. Higher costs deter people.

If flights are cheaper plus visa fees are lower you get more guests.

Please stop.

Thailand cannot control flight costs from Europe etc.

I have already explained the "visa fees" have not changed

Visa exempt 45 days was a temporary stimulus.

Get over it.

30 day visa exempt has always been lovely option from Thai gov.

Also easy extended by 30 days for 1900baht.
