Popular Post riclag Posted April 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) Another criminal who broke the law!imop For starters, this sick drunk mexican national disregarded Texas law by consuming alcohol and firing a gun. Again why punish millions and millions of responsible citizens who obey the laws. https://nypost.com/2023/04/29/texas-shooting-suspect-armed-and-dangerous-on-the-run/ These laws are in place to protect both gun owners and other people. https://onlinetexasltc.com/legality-of-carrying-a-firearm-while-under-the-influence-of-alcohol/ Edited April 30, 2023 by riclag 1 1 8 1 4

The gun didn’t kill anyone. It is a piece of metal. The individual who used the gun was responsible. As long as hate is being stoked by identity politics and the far left baiting the flames of injustice this will continue. Take away the guns while continuing to stoke tensions will result in the type of knife/machete/bomb/vehicle murders that we are currently seeing across Europe. Address the root cause - divisive politics - not the choice of weapon. 3 8 3 3 1

As long as hate is being stoked by identity politics and the far left baiting the flames of injustice this will continue. As were the people who allowed someone mentally unstable access to a gun. Mass shootings will continue in the USA until automatic weapons are removed from society. 2 minutes ago, JonnyF said: Take away the guns while continuing to stoke tensions will result in the type of knife/machete/bomb/vehicle murders that we are currently seeing across Europe. Your implication is that if you prevent lunatics access to assault rifles, they’ll just switch to machete / knife / bomb / vehicle attacks.... the response is utterly ridiculous and highlights the mindset of ‘use any excuse possible not to take our guns away’.... 2 minutes ago, JonnyF said: Address the root cause - divisive politics - not the choice of weapon. The suggestion that divisive politics is the root cause of mass-shootings in the US is ridiculous. There are plenty of root causes for such actions and all need addressing... The ‘either, or’ approach to the issue is also flawed. Removing such ready access to weapons and intelligently addressing root cause is the correct step forward. 6 1 1

Madeline Brame No... a steel ingot is ‘initially’ a useless piece of steel, a gun is connected, designed and engineers with the sole intention of causing destruction, devastation, death, threat, power... weapons of any sought do not belong in the hands of any civilian without good reason (i.e. licence hunting / shooting ranges). You quoted Madeline Brame.... as tragic as the story is, had her son’s attacker held an assault rifle instead of a knife the devastation of that individual tragedy may well have been significant greater, as are the majority when guns are involved. In comparison - Imagine the extent devastation on the London Bridge in 2017 when ISIS carried out their terrorism and stabbed 8 people and injured 48 if they had assault rifles instead. Note: The absence of access to guns does not mean ‘all' gun deaths will be replaced by knife deaths, that idea is preposterous. Edited April 30, 2023 by richard_smith237 4 1

Call me a cynic of Fox's display of civic goodwill, but I thought it was notable that Fox have been very selective in their display of results of their poll. They have quarantined the positive poll results against gun violence in one graphic from the also positive result of banning assault weapons and grouped it with a negative result for carrying guns and also re-jumbled the header and font size. Obviously there is no logical reason not to show all these results together except for disguising the real perception of assault weapons in the US. 1

TallGuyJohninBKK Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Just the other day: Colorado governor signs 4 gun control bills after massacre DENVER (AP) — Colorado’s [Democrat] governor signed four gun control bills Friday, following the lead of other states struggling to confront a nationwide surge in violent crime and mass shootings, despite a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that expanded Second Amendment rights. Before the ink was even dry on Gov. Jared Polis’ signature, gun rights groups sued to reverse two of the measures: raising the buying age for any gun from 18 to 21, and establishing a three-day waiting period between the purchase and receipt of a gun. ... The new laws, which Democrats pushed through despite late-night filibusters from Republicans, are aimed at quelling rising suicides and youth violence, preventing mass shootings, and opening avenues for gun violence victims to sue the long-protected firearm industry. They were enacted just five months after a mass shooting at an LGBTQ club in Colorado Springs. (more) https://apnews.com/article/gun-control-bills-colorado-governor-659ae16adc1275c42bdfd7f1fc094392 1

OK, and this will stop violent gun crime committed by criminals getting guns illegally how ? Black gang member kill far more - mostly of each other - with illegal fire arms than mass shootings. Cracking down on obtaining faire-arms is not the issue - its the criminals with them that is the bigger threat 2
