Pattaya deputy mayor Manoch Nongyai inspected Thepprasit Road following two recent accidents which claimed the lives of two Thai drivers.

One of the accidents happened last Monday when a motorcyclist tried to navigate his motorbike around a road construction detour on Threpprasit Road and fatally crashed into a Chinese tour bus. The man died on the spot.

Yesterday, May 2nd, Manoch and a team of officials from the Pattaya Office of Technicians visited the road. He said the road was partially blocked with construction blockage to allow roadwork, which was the reason the route was prone to accidents.

Similar lack of safety precautions occurred in Phon Phisai, Nong Khai district. The numpties removed 2 sets of traffic lights for months whilst the 212 was being 'improved' and didn't even change the road markings to show which road had priority or indicate that the junctions even existed. So anyone driving along the 212 could easily have had a serious accident at the crossroad because the were not aware and didn't reduce speed.

He's probably wondering why only a few million of the billions of Baht spent on this project have flowed into his bank account, and making sure the contractors fix that problem.

The conversation roughly translated:

Deputy Mayor: So you say that on this side of the road the work is now finished?

Contractor: Chai, krup!

Deputy Mayor: Well that's no good, I need more sugar, so tear it all up and start again.

Contractor: Chai, krup!

Use the road about once a week, but hardly ever see anyone working on it, does work happen overnight? If they threw a decent amount of bodies at it (live ones) the job would get done.

The corner at the lights with Phappraya has been dug up for months!!

Now they are installing a permanent barrier down the center, so no turn into the market or condos there.

Result is massive numbers of vehicles u-turning at the first open spot which just makes traffic worse.

I see he's found an excellent way to evaluation the "dangers" on Thepprasit. Stand in the middle of the road with other "officials" and look at papers instead of traffic. TIT
