You mean the pieces of string keeping the banners together during the transportation?

Nothing says scared, weak and corrupt government like the banning of bits of string.

Selective reading once again. You're quite good at it. One of the best on here.

And long may he reign.....God save King Charles ????

  • Basically compared to the coronation in 1953, nobody is that bothered.   Those "fans" of pomp and ceremony are looked upon as slightly unhinged. or sad.   The main difference betwe

Who ever said it was?

You've taken part of my post and quoted it out of context to suit your own agenda.

I cannot respect anyone who uses the word "agenda" in their posts.

That's fine by me.

The feeling is mutual.????????????????

I didn't mean the pieces of string keeping the banners together during transportation, no

Tell me where the selective reading is. Be specific because frequently, when you are challenged, you fall back on this device.

Then to which straps are you referring? The banners were held together with string. What else is so scary to the state?

There have been reports of protesters in amongst the well wishers. That was not in Trafalgar Square. There are also reports of protesters going through road blocks.  Neither were authorised by the police.

A handful of protesters among thousands of people who have an opposing view. Yep, a real threat to the rule of law. In any event, (1) they were removed (perhaps for their own safety) (2) it doesn't explain why protesters were arrested at the location where it was agreed that they could congregate. Unless, of course, you believe that possession of a few straps should be a criminal offence.

Let's face it, their plan was to disrupt. If that was not their plan, they would have chosen another day.

Did you miss the bit in the link you posted where it stated;:

"(Graham Smith) told BBC Radio Leeds that Republic "certainly have no intention of actually disrupting" the proceedings.

"We will be very visible, we will be loud, we will be hard to miss, but the procession and the plans for the coronation will go ahead uninterrupted by us.""?

There you go. The article clearly stated "straps". You missed it or, more likely, chose to ignore it.

You are correct. They were uninterrupted as protesters were moved on for stepping over the line.

We can all sleep safely tonight.

Yes, due the Police action the protestors were not able to disrupt the Coronation

And being nearer to the route than they said, mingling with onlookers with megaphones and ignoring road blocks.

You are paying way too much attention to this and giving much more importance that what it actually is .

A few disruptive people were stopped from causing a disruption .

That is all there is to this story .

All the mentions of North Korea and fascists is ridiculous .

A few trouble makers were stopped from causing trouble .

Its really no big deal

And it's all over and done with now.....GB has a king who talks to trees and called the late Queen "Mummy" even when he was in his sixties, and Camilla has her own personal King sized tampon. Sorted.

Having reread the reports, I've changed my mind. Just as well the police intervened. Who knows what this protest could have led to: Petrograd? Kristallnacht?

A narrow escape indeed.

It's no big deal if you don't value free speech and the ability to protest peacefully.

Everyone can still say what they want and you can still peacefully protest , just that the disruptive trouble makers today got told to go somewhere else to shout and scream and throw things about

No, no one was concerned about there being a full blown riot and civil unrest .

They simply wanted to stop a few loud mouthed unruly people disrupting the coronation , that's all they wanted to do .

We aren't talking about a revolution or the Army talking control of the streets  .

What's the point of a protest if there is no one there to hear your message?

They did indeed cause a disruption , but they had to cause a disruption in an area away from the main procession and so not to stop the coronation .

And the people there for the coronation drowned out the protesters message by shouting louder than they did in retaliation

People protest on the day of the coronations of Britain's King Charles III and Britain's Camilla, Queen Consort, in London on May 6, 2023.

I didn't ignore it - I asked for clarification. What are straps? How are they defined?

But we are talking about the right to freedom of speech being removed by a right wing government and being enacted upon by a disgraced and untrusted police force.

Trafalgar Square is a mile from Westminster Abbey. It is not on the procession route. If you were there specifically for the coronation then you probably wouldn't have come into contact with the protesters unless you went out of your way to confront them.

Then why did these anti-Brits low-life waste their time not at the Coronation, all they did was use up police resources.........????.................????
