  • First if all - do NOT wait for your appointment next week. Becoming so short of breath after 20-30 meters that you have to stop and sit down warrants a visit to the emergency room. You may be in heart

  • The likelihood of the Reaper coming is directly proportional to you not seeking medical attention. As I have said repeatedly this should not wait for your next appointment and warrants an immediate vi

Hi, I also live in KPP, just outside of city. If you come into town head towards the government hospital and go past it then turn left at the traffic lights and there is a fairly large medical equipme

Glad to hear you finally got a proper diagnosis and treatment. Hopefully your shortness of breath will improve.

I hope so too but I will wait to see next Friday's results first.

The good news is that I don't need to rent or buy an oxygen bottle. I did see one lady in the hospital with an oxygen bottle strapped to her wheelchair.

Friday 9th June repeat visit

I went back to Naresuan this morning on a return visit from last Friday and started later as the doctors don’t seem to start until after 1 pm.

I saw a different doctor for the follow up and she seemed to be happier as I feel about 1% better a day.

She wandered over me with the stethoscope and found that there was still some fluid in my lungs. Other than that, both of us were happy. She prescribed a diuretic called furosemide in 40 mg tablets. I have to take 1 per day for 20 days after breakfast. Unless I have a problem, I don’t need a repeat visit to Naresuan.

Furosemide is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (oedema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. This drug is also used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Furosemide is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.

We did discuss whether I wanted to see a specialist about my heart problem (I didn’t know I had one unless it is the one going back to 2006 when I had 2 stents put in).

Both my wife and I explained that I have not so much income now and have to send our son to uni in August for 3 years. She went off to see her boss to see if I could be seen for a lower rate but nothing much seemed to has come from that. Perhaps she needs to talk it over for a longer time, so we left it at that.

I took my first diuretic tablet this morning after breakfast. I had a morning nap of just over an hour and woke for a pee twice.

I am still fatigued, but the Furosemide used to reduce extra fluid in the body seems to be working well.

The drawback is that I am drinking more fluids and the Furosemide is dealing with that.

Catch 22.
