ozimoron Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 It never made sense not to. The moment that Russia vetoed a UN general resolution to get out NATO should have informed the orcs that it will directly assist Ukraine to repel them. 2
RanongCat Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 So in if same way Putin make good on promise to use nuclear if threat is existential same as promise if Russia attacks a NATO will invite all NATO ? Is world threat dangerous talk. 1
asf6 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Rasmussen is speculating. But it won't happen unless the US approves of it, and I don't think they will.
eisfeld Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Note that Russia engaging with troops from NATO countries in a non-NATO country (e.g. polish soldiers inside Ukraine) would not trigger the collective self-defence or Article 5. This only gets triggered if Russia were to attack on the ground of a NATO country, e.g. inside Poland. At this point in time I don't see other countries sending their soldiers to fight in Ukraine. And I'd prefer it remain that way because that would turn the clock to really close to midnight.
asf6 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba. "We are not seeking NATO troops on the ground to end this war." https://twitter.com/DmytroKuleba/status/1666477407350448141
