Must be a big relief to China that they have Thailand to back them up against any threats in the region.

Thailand played an important role during the IndoChina war, and Im sure China see them as an important strategic future partner.

No specifics… how surprising. Do a bit more research

Uhhhh.......four different articles from four different sources saying the same thing, guess I didn't do enough research for you, I can find more if you want but I think I proved my point--to most people, but obviously not to you. Plus the article you linked too basically says the same thing so I'm not sure what you wanted to say, seems there are five articles now saying the same thing. We'll just agree to disagree as I don't see this discussion ending. This will be my last post on this, have a nice day.

'China expressed its readiness to enhance military cooperation with Thailand in a bid to maintain stability in the region'.

In other words impose its own interpretation of military stability in the region!

If I was in charge of Thailand I would think twice before considering any offer from China... too much like Russia and look at what happen with Ukraine military operation and Belarus as Vlad just referred to it as a territory  not a country, that could be Thailand next denomination as well if they lay down with China... South China Sea used to be a free way/road of international navigation, I said USED to be as now it become China's territory, just ask Vietnam, Philippines, Bruney, Malaysia and some other countries about accepting China into their waters, thus Thailand should be very very careful with what they wish for

Oh yes. A friend who harvests organs, if they don't approve of your beliefs. A friend who builds massive concentration camps. And a friend who locks people up, or disappears them, if they don't like what you have to say about the leadership. Yes, a very good friend to have.

It is the privileged of power, always been like that. Even remove leaders as well feed the opposition with weapons and other resources, when they do not want to follow the rules set by the total power.

Steve Rosse said it beautifully on "grumpy old men" this morning.

"The Thais tell you (and the CCP/USA) what you want to hear, eventually the CCP will leave pissed-off and broke, like everyone else who invests in Thailand! ????

Do you naively think that the Chinese don't already know everything about the F-35?

They can't even make the balls for the ball-point pens they assemble. Their space program is Russian, as is their best fighter, basically with "Chinese characteristics" They could get the manual for the F-35 presented hide-bound and signed by Trump and they still wouldn't come close to what the US have built.

It's not that the Chinese don't have brilliant minds at their disposal, it's that they are so rigidly constrained by party interference, innovation just dies in the <deleted> there.

So they are reduced to theft and copy.

They don't even improve on things, like the Japanese do.

Thailand is already a vassal-state of the CCP... it's just that the regular Thais don't know it, and by the time they wake-up, it will be way too late.

Time will show you right or wrong, but it is a very American way of thinking about China.

How many wars have America won? There is no win in a sich wars with China, only losses, and when the conflicts happens everywhere else than Us and China mainland, many innocent dies who have no part in the conflict at all.

Sorry I am not as dumb as you presume I am. I know what the US has been up to. I lived through the Vietnam war, Watergate, the ridiculous wars in Iraq, Panama, Grenada, etc. I saw the insane buildup of the intelligence community after 9/11. I know how rotten and over reaching they are. I know how foul politicians at the national level are in America. As bad as the US has been in terms of foreign policy, considering the power they have wielded, it could have been a whole lot worse. Would you really trust the Chinese as the leader of the "not so free" world? Which would you choose as the top dog? Would you prefer to count on the largess of Xi? Do you trust him, the Politburo, and the CCP? And if so, why?

That is one of my greatest fears. That the US influence will continue to wane, and China will pick up the ball. They are not, nor will they ever be responsible guardians of the "public trust", as long as the CCP is in control. Not that America was always that. But, the CCP has nothing but evil intentions, in my opinion. World domination. And not what I would call "an overlord that wears their power lightly".

And the CCP has a nicely developed infrastructure to work with, that they did not have to pay for. Just think if the Kra canal project ever happens. It would be a likely takeover, at that point. The only hope for the world, is the swift downfall of the CCP. One can dream. They seem to be heading toward world domination. Though the Americans certainly have their faults, and alot to answer for, I would take them as a dominant force over China, any day of the week.

China does not wear their power lightly. A couple of quotes that come to mind.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. Thomas Sowell.

Every people, every society, needs a culture of resistance, a culture of being difficult and disobedient, that is the only way they will ever be able to stand up to the inevitable abuse of power by whoever runs the state apparatus, the capitalists, the communists, the socialists, the Gandhians, whoever. Arundhati Roy

We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me. George Orwell, 1984.

Military dictatorship is born from the power of the gun, and so it undermines the concept of the rule of law and gives birth to a culture of might, a culture of weapons, violence and intolerance. Benazir Bhutto

Xi-
I allow no personal freedom to my people.

We harvest organs for profit and punishment.

We oppress our minority populations.

We barely allow any imports and make it difficult for companies to sell their products in China.

We ignore territorial boundaries and claim ownership of the South China Sea.

We are nearly the only nation to subscribe to a zero covid policy, even if it means putting millions out of work.

I have just been appointment PM for life. Or, close to it.

Impressive, huh? Want to be like us?

Could have fooled me. But propagandised for sure. How many wars have China been involved in in the last 50 years, compared to your country? Why is the world, with the exception of the collective West, pivoting towards China? The days of the US empire are numbered, it’s just a matter of which countries it will take down with it.

China and regional stability... Is that an oxymoron?

China = stability??? these 2 words don't go together they antagonize each other, better definitions

China = instability, insecurity, stubbornness, unsteadiness, weakness
